How to unlock:
    1) Complete Classic Mode with all other characters
    2) Play 300 Versus Mode matches
    3) Clear SSE Level 31: The Great Maze

  B: Homing Attack. Charges up and jumps into the air. Will hone in on
     any nearby enemies, within reason.

  Side-B: Spin Dash. Curls up and rolls across the stage causing
          impact damage. Can be charged. Can be controlled with the
          control stick.
    Damage: 5
  Up-B: Spring Jump. Calls in a large spring beneath him. If on the
        ground, spring can be used multiple times.
    Damage: None.
  Down-B: Spin Charge. Curls into a ball and dashes to the side
          causing impact damage. Not as powerful as the Spin Dash, but
          faster.

Final Smash - Super Sonic:
Sonic turns into Super Sonic (basically turns sparkly yellow). You can move him about with the control stick, though he is extremely fast and can be hard to control. You damage enemies by ramming them. Whole thing lasts 13 seconds, and does 18 damage per contact.

Strategy:
Sonic is the fastest character in the game. Use that to your advantage. His disadvantage is that all of his attacks are basically the same. Keep your foes close, but not too close and use his special attacks to mow through them.

Defense Strategy:
Don't let him gain speed. Stay in as close as you can and constantly pummel him. While he is fast, his attacks aren't that fast. Don't let him gain distance.

The high-speed blue hedgehog makes his well-anticipated Smash Bros. debut. Being known for his speed, Sonic is clearly the fastest character in the game. He also appears to have attacks - such as his classic spin dash - that can plough through multiple characters at a time.

How to unlock: Complete the Subspace Emissary

Special moves

Standard: Homing Attack. Sonic jumps in to the air and - homing on to the nearest opponent - slams in to them. If he is in the air, he will automatically go in to homing attack without jumping.

Side: Spin Dash. Sonic dashes forward while curled up in a ball. By holding it, you can briefly charge to send Sonic faster. You can jump during the dash to perform extra hits, allowing for Sonic to combo opponents easily.

Up: Spring Jump. Sonic summons a spring to jump high in to the air. If this move is performed on the ground, the spring will stay, allowing other characters to use it after him.

Down: Spin Charge. Sonic curls up in to a ball and - by holding the button - charges up a spin, then releases when the button is released. It can be charged indefinately and doesn't have any jump capabilities.

Final Smash: Super Sonic Transformation. Sonic summons the 7 Chaos Emeralds and tempoarily transforms in to Super Sonic. While like this, Sonic flies about the screen, damaging and sending anyone he touches soaring. If it runs out while he is off the stage, he will fall and self-destruct.
