Support Rank (Bonds)

This system is also another feature from the recent Fire Emblem titles that made it to this game. Support Rank basically represents the bond between characters. Increasing the Support Rank in this game is very important since it’s the only way to get unique, character-exclusive materials needed to unlock individual character skills. You'll always get a summary post-battle whose bonds has improved or freshly established.

You can increase the support ranks between characters reliably by pairing them often. You’ll know if the bond (not the actual rank) increases when you see hearts appear above their heads. Normally, defeating officer-type enemies while paired is a sure bond increase. Other methods of increasing the bonds are Healing Allies and completing requests. Make sure to take advantage of this feature and bond your characters often to gain access to even more powerful skills that will give you the edge in combat.
