What is the best satarting pokemon?

Chikorita is the best.

It all depends on what type you like. If you like grass get the grass type and so on.
Watever one you pick the riavel will pick your weekness. So if you pick fire he will pick water

Cyndaquil is definitely ,by far, the absolute best starter Pokemon for golod and silver. When he is a typhlosion, his flamethrower or even his flame wheel can kill a meganium, and when hes a typhlosion, he can learn thunderpunch tm and kill a feraligatr just as easily. Some people say chicorita is the best because he can use solar beam to kill typhlosion, but there are two things that they have forgotten, solarbeam takes one turn before the attack to charge energy, by then, typhlosion will have been able to kill him easily. And two, a typhlosion has such incredible defense, that even getting hit with a solarbeam, it would take three hits to kill a typhlosion, but only one or even two hits from a flamethrower to kill a meganium. And as for feraligatr against typhlosion, typhlosion's thunderpunch is supereffective and can kill in one hit, or it might take two. When feraligatr's best move would be either surf, hydro pump, or water gun. Surf and hydro pump have an average bad accuracy, so it might take two or three times just to hit and even more tries to kill typhlosion. And water gun is too weak to kill typhlosion in even 5 hits.(realize that I am refering each of these pokemon's strengths based upon the fact that every one of them are level one hundred. If they arent one hundred, this might change a litle.)
