Could someone please explain Missingno?

I've heard about it but noone really explains it saying it's too complicated and such.

You can't actually get Missingno on gold or silver, but you can on blue and red.

I tried it out on blue and it worked. How to do it:

1.Go to Viridian and talk to the guy at the top.

2.He will ask you if you are in a hurry. Answer no.

3.After he's showed you, FLY to cinnabar.

4.SURF up and down half land half water on the right side.

5.After a while you should see a level 180 charmeleon and Missingno.

Hope I helped!

Missingno can only be found on red and blue. Sorry if you thought it was in all games cause it isn't.

If you have red or blue and get it it can screw your game completely!

Hope this helped.

I think its that pokemon when you have at least one rare candy that in red/blue you surf up and down the right side of cinnibar island and when you see it I made it faint 'cause I was trying to catch it and when I looked at my items I had about 50 rare candys but on theleft sid is said a symbolx9 and I've tried a millon times more and I still haven't seen it

From what I have seen, Missingno is the possible far side of all datamass that represents the Pokemon in the game. Missingno controls the Save system in the game, the images and figures of the Pokemon in the game, and the memory battery that lasts five years. The memory battery is the round chip thing in your game-pak that helps to keep your game memory. It has a five-year life span; if it dries out, then you lose all your game data and you will not be able to Save the game without losing your data within a couple minutes. Missingno, like the mysterious Pokemon Deoxys, comes in several forms, all of which have a different name.

The Missingno in the Gold and Silver Versions is not considered "Missingno", yet it is the very same thing that you could encounter in the earlier Versions, only updated. Now, Missingno has a name that makes sense: Missing Number. That's what the name stands for. The missing number is the missing link in the game, which is Missingno itself, consumed in that datalink that is twisted and unsecure with viruses and errors. The place known as Glitch City, accessable in Blue and Red Versions, has some connection with Missingno, as both appear in the same area: Seafoam Islands.

When I say that Missingno is the darkside of all unique datamass that represents the Pokemon in the game, I mean that... well, if you reverse the data of the Pokemon in the game, you would end up with Missingno. If you DO manage to reverse Pokemon data somehow, then you have the power to do ANYTHING AT ALL in the game! You can create new Pokemon, relive the old- anything at all. Of course, this means correct input or proper hex data, which could lead to hours of memorizing and reading...
Have you heard of the glitch Pokemon ++M++? ++M++ is Missingno's bro, more or less, the controller of small details. Not much is known of it...

In Red and Blue Versions, there was a guy in the game who told you there was a missing link in the game. Well, my friend, the link is Missingno. I know this because Missingno's name stands for "Missing Number", and the missing number is the missing link. Confused? read over what I have typed about Missingno and ++M++ in Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Gold/Silver Versions on this site to piece everything together. And you know, it all REALLY does fit together...

Ok, the Missingno glitch is relatively complicated, but I can only explain what it is about, not the method to getting it... The Missingno is essentially a missing game code for extra Pokemon deleted in the Alpha/Beta form of First Gen, the original plan for First Generation was to have more than 151 Pokemon but decided to keep it to 151, so the extra Pokedex slots were deleted leaving behind a game glitch called Missingno... Although Missingno is indeed a glitch in the programming it is relatively harmless unless you get a certain form of it. This certain form is known to break your game, deleting or corrupting your save data or rendering your cartridge unplayable. All in all Missingno is the leftover code of deleted Pokedex/Pokemon slots...
