Hi I'm playing silver can someone tell me what the shrine in illex forest is for

ANSWERS

It's just put in the game to honor Celebi, the forest's protector. You can't do anything with it unless it's true that if you put the G/S ball in it Celebi will attack you. However I think this is false.

The shrine really is of no concern...unless you have a gameshark. This is the shrine that Celebi appears at once you use your gameshark to get a GS ball. Place it in the shrine and you will battle a wild Celebi. But if you don't have a gameshark, this is useless.

If you use Gameshark, that's where Celebi attacks you. Without it though, it does absolutely nothing.

People claim that if you give Kurt a Gold or Silver Apricorn then defeat the Elite Four, you will get a special Ball from Kurt that can be put in the Shrine to find a Celebi, but that is false.

It is used to get Celebi. But he can't get captured unless you have a Gameshark.
