How do you get fire stones and thunder stones and water stones and leaf stones?

To get fire stone, show Bill's grandpa a Vulpix in Silver or a Growlithe in Gold. For a Thunder Stone, show Bill's Grandpa a Pichu. For a Water Stone, show him a Staryu. And for a leaf stone, show him an Oddish.
