Perks are valuable skills that you can learn in order to improve your survivability and overall performance. There are five perk categories to choose from, each with 10 individual perks. The cost for each perk vary but their utility and benefits will surely help you in the long run. You can only use Perk Points to learn these skills and since they’re not easy to earn, there are some perks that you need to prioritize over the other (which will be discussed further below). There are three ways to earn perk points:
- Complete challenges: Meeting the specific requirements for each challenge will award the corresponding amount of PP. Challenges can only be completed once.
- Locate and loot Prepper Stashes: These optional stashes containing a large amount of money, materials, weapons, ammo, and at least 3 Perk Magazines that award 1 PP each.
- Find Perk Magazines in other locations such as residences, shops, etc. Some locations have at least one perk magazine.
Here are some perks that you should consider getting as soon as possible. After getting these, you can consider getting the other perks in whatever order you want.
- Additional Holster - Unlocks the third weapon slot (second large weapon slot). Very valuable, try getting this first.
- Parachute - Cheap and can be a lifesaver especially when ejecting from aircraft or jumping off high places.
- Grapple - Cheap and will allow you to use specific grappling points, giving you access to more areas. You can also use this to hook yourself up on a helicopter.
- Repair Torch - Allows you to open locked safes or repair vehicles
- Leadership - Unlock the second slot in your squad, allowing you to play two Specialists or Guns for Hire.
- Close Combat Gear Bag - Cheap, allows you to carry more handgun ammo and Melee weapons. Perfect boost early on.
- Journey Bag - Carry more items, including 5 medkits. Also increases the capacity of items you can carry in the utility wheel that can be used to create more homeopathics and other craftable items.
- Harvest Master - Doubles the loot reward from plants and animals. Allows you to collect more and thus, craft or sell more.
- Sneaky Sprint - Move faster while crouched. Definitely a must if you love to sneak around to assassinate enemies or liberate outposts stealthily.
