Prologue: Outbreak of War

Last Updated:

Operation: Recapture Molda

This is the first operation in the game and will serve as a tutorial stage. Take this time to get accustomed to the controls, mechanics, and “feel” of different Classes. First off, go downhill and take out the lone soldier past the first wall. Continue to the open field and deal with the enemies behind the sandbags. This is a good chance to test your alchemic spells and secondary weapons for the first time. You can save your grenades for later.

Continue north to trigger a cutscene where you’ll encounter a light bipedal tank. Due to the enemy’s entrenched position, you’ll sustain heavy damage by rushing up front. Instead, it will be a great idea to switch to Brigitte and lob a smoke grenade at them. This will allow your team to get up close without getting shot. When in melee range, take out the infantry first then concentrate on the light tank’s legs to disable it for a few seconds. Focus your attacks on it until it is taken down.

After the cutscene, you’ll enter the second part of the operation with new team members. If you checked out this guide’s basics section, you’ll immediately identify what class your teammates belong to. Feel free to switch control between them since this is going to be pretty useful for your future battles. Take out the first batch of guards ahead then head east to find a large enemy force waiting for you. Tilda will do a good job in tanking enemy attacks while Isaak’s mobility allows him to close the distance and flank the enemy. Blum will keep your party healed but he’s fragile and you can’t rely on him offensively. You can also use a grenade when there’s a large group of enemies close to each other to eliminate most of them all at once. After that, go uphill to the north and eliminate more enemies behind the sandbags. Continue to the mission marker to the west to trigger a cutscene.

Boss: LV3 Dragon Type-S

Finally, you’re in your very first boss fight. Don’t be intimidated by the sheer size of this thing. Since you can only reach its legs, focus your attacks on one leg at a time. You can may also switch the command of your unit to Offense by pressing the left or right directional button. You have to be careful of the small and wide AoE (area-of-effect) attacks the boss does as it can severely damage your party.

Amleth has the highest HP in the group while Godot shield can help protect him from extensive damage. Sarah will tend to attack up close but like Blum, she’s also fragile and her damage is negligible. If needed, take control of her and take her out of the enemy attack range while also being able to manually use Healing Field. Ophelia can also heal while also being capable of dealing good damage with her ranged Freezing Ray (water) spell.

Disabling one of the boss’ legs will temporarily stun it, lowering its vital ragnite core and head within melee range. Use this chance to focus your attacks on the core to deal considerable damage until it acts again. Later in the battle, it will summon Flame Sentries. Don’t ignore these little star-shaped objects as they will continuously shoot fireballs at your team that may interrupt your attacks, deal damage, and chance to burn your characters. They’re not that hard to destroy anyway so deal with them as soon as you can to avoid unnecessary damage.

Don’t bother hiding behind the sandbags to recover HP since the boss can fire heavy cannon shells that can instantly destroy them and damage you at the same time. Repeat the same pattern and preferably use Ophelia since her Freeze Ray can deal consistent damage against the boss’ vital parts until it is defeated.
