The game’s active battle system is a major jump from the series’ tactical, turn-based system. One notable aspect of the Vanargand is that you’ll engage enemy forces using unique ragnite-based melee weapons, with guns and grenades as secondary weapons. That said, you’ll be forced to get into melee range most of the time since the secondary weapons ammo and grenades are very limited.
There are also numerous locations where you can hide like sandbags, grass, and behind walls. Hiding recovers HP (except behind sandbags) and allows you perform surprise attacks, delaying the enemy actions and giving you the upper hand.
