The fish that you catch are also needed in order for you to Cook since they are used for a lot of Recipes. How to Fish

When starting the game out, helping Gwen will let you acquire the ship that Stella can use in order to fulfill her role as the Spiritfarer. While you head on your way to Albert’s Shipyard, you’ll be able to start fishing. Simply go to the rear side of the boat and you’ll find a chair that you can sit on in order to use your fishing rod.
