Link

Guide Image

Link is a soldier of Hyrule Kingdom’s forces who has strengths beyond all others, to go with the power of the Triforce of Courage. He has the kindness in his heart that allows him to communicate with fairies, and the heart to go against evil, even if it’s much stronger than himself, thanks to his strong sense of justice. Link relies on his footwork on the battlefield, and uses various weapons in Combat. He’s considered more of a speed-type swordsman, above all.

How to unlock:Link is your starting warrior.

Impa

Impa is a new captain of the Hyrule Kingdom, who has the responsibility of protecting and watching over Princess Zelda. As the head of a tribe that has been supporting the Hyrule Kingdom from behind the scenes, Impa’s loyalty towards Princess Zelda is second to no other. Her fighting style revolves around the use of her giant katana to pierce through enemies. She’s a skilled veteran with the sword, who does everything from her footwork to behavior in a sharp manner.

How to unlock: Complete "Armies of Ruin" scenario in Legend Mode

Weapons: Giant Blade, Naginata

Sheik

Introduced as a Sheikah, Sheik is ready and able to assist Hyrule's effort, even if Impa is highly skeptical. Though quiet and betraying very little emotion, Sheik never the less finds ways to make a lasting impact on fellow warriors with a very distinct way with words. Kunai strapped to Sheik's legs allow for quick mobility and deadly ranged attacks. Plus, a harp feels right at home between Sheik's fingers, allowing the youth to play devastating harmonies to shock, burn, or banish enemies to darkness.

How to unlock: Complete “The Sheikah Tribesman” in Legend Mode

Lana

"The White Witch", Lana, is a sorceress with a vast knowledge of spells and monsters. She uses her book of spells to cast explosive magic and protective barriers, dispersing enemies offensively and defensively. However, if the barriers break, she sustains a great amount of damage. Lana and Cia have an unspoken hostility. Lana is determined to stop her, even if the cost is her own life. While searching for the Gate of Souls, she takes a detour to rescue Agitha from a horde of monsters, ultimately recruiting her to fight the war alongside her.

How to unlock: Complete "Sorceress of the Woods" scenario in Legend Mode

Weapons: Book of Sorcery, Spear, Summoning Gate

Zelda

During the sudden crisis in Hyrule Kingdom, the courageous princess commands the troops while standing directly on the battlefield. Zelda is a dignified beauty with a noble and royal atmosphere. Hidden within her is the power of the Triforce of Wisdom. She has calm eyes capable of assessing the course of the war, calmly defend, and bravely attack. She mainly uses a rapier as her weapon, and she gracefully fights in a flowing manner without wasting a single motion.

How to unlock: Complete the scenario “The Sacred Sword” in Legend Mode.

Darunia

Darunia is an extremely powerful force, even within his tribe. And just like all Gorons, his rock-like body makes him tough to mess with. While he can sometimes be very stubborn, he loves his Goron brothers. In fact, referring to anyone as “brother” is a sign of the deepest affection a Goron can give. Darunia swings around his giant hammer like it weighs nothing at all but he also enjoys scattering enemies with the Goron specialty: The roll and charge!

How to unlock: Complete the scenario “Land of Myth” in Legend Mode.

Midna

Midna comes from a different world, and she is the princess of the Twilight Realm’s royal family. On the upside, she has a fairly minded personality. Although she has a pretty sharp tongue. However, Midna’s gentle on one side, but she’s also a strong female lead. Her appearance has been altered by the Sorceress Cia. Midna’s currently hunting for Cia to regain her original form. She fights while riding a Shadow Wolf created by magic. Midna can ride the wolf straight into the enemies, and utilize her hair to form hands to viciously strike her enemies or pick them up and fling them away.

How to unlock: Complete the scenario “The Shadow King” in Legend Mode.

Weapons: Shackle

Fi

Fi is the spirit of the "Goddess Sword" sealed inside the Statue of the Goddess in Skyloft. Once the worlds became fused together, Fi was transported from the world of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword into the world of Hyrule Warriors. With extensive knowledge and a highly analytical mind, Fi thinks things through logically and offers advice and wisdom to whoever holds the sword. Its body is made of a blue, metallic material and her character was designed to bear resemblance to the Master Sword. Although she was designed to bear the appearance of a young girl and is referred to as female throughout the game, Fi is genderless and does not have emotions.

How to unlock: Complete “Land in the Sky” in Legend Mode.

Ganondorf

Evilness became one with darkness and Ganondorf appeared. He calls himself a demon king with no fear, but more importantly, he believes he's the only person able to control the Triforce of Power. His goal is to obtain the Triforce of Wisdom and Courage, and use them along with his terrible power to rule over the world. Ganondorf carries twin swords with him, swords that no ordinary men could ever move or swing. The only thing they can do is kneel before him.

How to unlock: Complete “Shining Beacon” scenario in Legend Mode.

Unlockable via Adventure Mode

Please use the map below as reference for characters that can be unlocked from Adventure Mode. The adventure map is divided by grids. We will designate the rows with letters where Row A is the bottom and Row H is the top. The columns will have numbers starting from 1 from the left and 16 to the right. The starting position is A-8.

Ruto

Guide Image

Ruto is the princess of the Zoras, her home is located in Zora's Domain, a small village at the end of Zora's River that feeds into Lake Hylia. Ruto is quite refined and dedicated to her cause, she does what she has to in order to protect those she loves most, and that certainly includes her future husband, Link (it's complicated). Water is Ruto's specialty, and she uses it to great effect in battle by summoning giant waves that crash into enemies, as well as creating bubbles of water that she can swim through.

How to unlock: She's in grid D10. Use a Power Bracelet at the lone statue in the middle of the trees to the west then complete the scenario to unlock her (victory reward)

Agitha

As the “Self-Proclaimed Princess of the Insect Kingdom” Agitha‘s mission is to help Lana find “The Door of Reincarnation” that is under attack by dark forces, as payment for saving her from a horde of monsters. Agitha uses her parasol for physical attacks and possesses the ability to summon swarms of insects to aid her, including a giant beetle and a butterfly.

How to unlock: She's in grid E7. You need to use the Water Bomb in the Search screen then complete the scenario to unlock her (victory reward)

Ghirahim

This evil being is full of pride and intoxicates everything near him. He sees himself as a narcissist, working for oneself, clean of guilt. Ghirahim is a careful servant, but his merciless true character usually appears with brutality when angry. He transforms into a huge sword and finishes his enemies with a single stroke. He also shows his swordplay skills by creating a variety of devil swords. He's good at Combat, using fast movements and summoning demons when needed. In addition, he potentially improves his dark magic powers by changing his form.

How to unlock: He's in grid B3. Use a Candle on the third three from the top, in the middle of the map.

Zant

The man who is told to have ruled over the world in the shadows with the power that he took away from the Imperial Family is summoned by Sorceress Cia through a transmigration door. He's often hysterical: A trait that comes out even more if things don't go as he wants or if he feels cornered. Zant equips both hands with scimitars, but he also uses his magic powers to become bigger and perform a special attack in which he crashes his entire body into the surface.

How to unlock: He's in grid F3. Use the Digging Mitts in the space above the leftmost statue, top row.

Weapons: Scimitar

Cia

Guide Image

Cia is the embodiment of evil that extracted the good out of a certain witch’s heart. She’s honest but egotistical, provocative and aggressive. She has a strong desire of wanting to make everything in the world her own, and most of all, she wants the hero Link all to herself.

How to unlock: Download update 1.3.0

Weapons: Scepter

Volga

Volga is Cia’s aide, who traded his heart for tremendous strengths in a contract with the evil witch. Unlike Wizzro, Volga rushes in without thinking much, as he searches for a worthy opponent. During Combat, he tends to get excited, especially while facing tough foes. He uses a big spear that resembles a dragon’s claw as his weapon of choice, as he often lets out a loud roar to go with some heavy damage dealing hits. He's called the Dragon Knight because of his ability to breath fire and even transform into a fiery dragon that can lay waste to enemies.

How to unlock: Download update 1.3.0

Weapons: Dragon Spear

Wizzro

For countless centuries, Wizzro was a ring which was passed from countless owners and used in dark magic rituals. Thanks to Cia's sorcery, the cursed artifact takes its current shape. While Wizzro remains loyal to Cia, he longs for more, as he searches for someone much stronger to follow. In battle, he uses explosive dark magic, along with other magic that has an effect on his surroundings. He specializes in three-dimensional magic, so you might need to keep stay sharp while facing him.

How to unlock: Download update 1.3.0
