BACKGROUND | Porter was not an academic, although in secondary school he excelled in science. He took a particular interest in biology and the unit on dissection. During his gap year, Porter enlisted in the British Army, using a fake ID to circumvent parental consent. |
PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFILE | Porter is a thrill seeker with very little regard for his personal safety. He is fearless in battle and can be a great asset for defensive maneuvers. However, he seems to enjoy the havoc and chaos of war. He tends to have an odd sense of humor in stressful situations. Can be narcissistic. |
TRAINING | British Army / SAS Operative |
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE | After basic training, Porter was stationed in Belfast. Finding the posting a bit dull in the wake of the March 2007 treaty, he joined the Army Boxing Team as a middleweight. |

Type: Defender
Smoke can literally choke attacking teams with his Poison Gas Grenade. The Poison Gas Grenade is not necessarily a “grenade” in the traditional sense because it is only activated by detonation. With this, Smoke is much more effective using Poison Gas Grenade and Nitro Cell in his loadout because he can cover two chokepoints at the same time. The Poison Gas Grenade can only be thrown and detonated one at a time.
Therefore, he cannot rig corners ahead of time. This only means that Smoke, in order for him to be very effective, must hang around the area where he installed the Poison Gas Grenade.
Smoke is also one of the three operators that can equip a semi-automatic as a secondary. Sledge and Recruit can also equip the SMG-11 as their secondary. However, Smoke is the most effective operator with this secondary because he can pair it with a shotgun (M590A1). Sledge can equip a shotgun + SMG combo too, but Smoke is better synergized with it because he can move in and move out rather quickly in tight spaces with all of his traps.
Smoke is great pair with Pulse because the latter can signal the former of the locations of the presence of the attacking team if they are in the room where the traps are set.
REMINDER The Poison Gas Grenade does not hurt Smoke. Some players actually run away from the detonation even when they are playing Smoke. Smoke is immune to his own gas, HOWEVER, his teammates are not, including and more importantly, the hostage.
