The gym is home to fire-type trainers. To navigate the gym, you have to step on the trap doors that will take you to different rooms with trainers. After stepping on the middle trap-door near the entrance, you'll land on the lower floor. Ignore the plank to the left and ride the plank to the right. Here you'll face one of the trainers. Defeat him and step on the trapdoor once again.
You'll be taken back to the second part of the basement. There's a trainer hiding underwater; he'll reveal himself if you get near the bubbling spot on the water. Ignore the middle plank and step on the plank to the left.
Kindler Cole (Reward: p736)
Ninja Boy Hiromichi (Reward: p384)
You'll now be taken to the western side of the first floor. There are two trap doors here and two trainers as well. Avoid the trapdoor in the middle since it leads to a dead end. Step on the trapdoor to the far north instead.
Kindler Axle (Reward: p800)
Battle Girl Sadie (Reward: p832)
In the basement area, avoid the middle plank. Continue to the right and defeat another ninja boy hiding underwater. Ride the plank afterward. In the upper floor, head south to be immediately challenged by another trainer waiting there.
Ninja Boy Shoji (Reward: p384)
Ace Trainer Zane (Reward: p1560)
Step on the trapdoor to the south and defeat the last trainer in the basement area. Step on the lone plank to the left to reach Flannery's area.
Kindler Andy (Reward: p800)
Lavaridge Gym Leader Flannery (Reward: p3,360)
After defeating Flannery, you'll get the Heat Badge. This will make Pokemon up to LV50 to obey you completely, and you'll be able to use Strength outside of battle. You'll also get TM50 Overheat. Once done, head south and jump over the ledges to leave the Gym.
After leaving the Gym, May/Brendan will approach you. She/He will give you Go-Googles. This Key Item will allow you to explore the desert area in Route 111, where the sandstorm is blowing. May/Brendan will also remind you that your next stop is Petalburg and will offer to go back there together. You can decline if you still have things to do here; otherwise, say yes to save a lot of travel time.
