When leveling up, the main character’s max HP and SP increases. Due to his ability to use different personas, his currently equipped persona earns that much EXP as well. When a Persona levels up, some of that persona’s specific stats increases. A persona can also learn new Skills when it reaches the required level needed to unlock a particular skill. Your teammates will also level up but since they can only control one persona, their skills and stats are dependent on their persona’s growth.
Whenever you create new Personas in the Velvet Room, it’s possible for them to level up several times instantly depending on the amount of Bonus EXP they can get from the Confidant Rank with the same arcana as theirs. More explanations about the Confidant system will be discussed in a dedicated section of this guide.
These are non-combat stats that will affect your relationships and actions in the real world. Certain establishments and confidant unlocking/interactions require a specific level social status before you can interact with them further.
There are many ways of increasing the social stat level. These include but not limited to: time-consuming activities, answering pop quizzes, reading, watching shows, taking part in some part-time jobs, drinking special concoctions, creating tools, etc. This stat carries over to the next playthrough in New Game+ so you should consider maxing out each Social Stat attribute during the first playthrough.

It will be faster to rank up a confidant if you have a persona under the same arcana with you before spending time with that person. Of course, there are other exceptions like confidants that rank up automatically as you go through with the story. However, this is mostly true for confidants who you need to spend time with. Before spending time with a confidant, your character will say if the bond will be deepened or if it’s not about to rank up just yet. Use this cues to help you decide whether it’s really worth to spend the time with him/her at all.
