Prototype Guide - Walkthrough

Children of Blacklight

Mission Objective: Defeat the Supreme Hunter
Within the Core Hive, you'll encounter the abomination that is the Supreme Hunter. This guy is deadly close range, so the Musclemass Power and Musclemass Throw ability are the tools to use here. If you haven't acquired either of these upgrades yet, do so now as to afford yourself a bit of an easier time. Purchase the Sprinting Grab, Sprinting Throw, and Charged Throw upgrades as well if you don't already have them.

Thrown objects can knock off quite a bit of the Supreme Hunter's health when coupled with the Musclemass Power and Musclemass Throw upgrades. The military transport trucks and the green munitions crates are especially effective when pelted with a Charged Throw.

Use the Musclemass Power to pelt objects at the Supreme Hunter.

The Critical Pain Devastator is very effective against the Supreme Hunter. However, it is difficult to retain the amount of health needed to perform a Devastator because of the commotion, and you likely wouldn't last long enough after falling to the amount of health required to trigger Adrenaline Surge. The Critical Pain Devastator is a powerful attack and definitely has its uses, but for this fight, stick to the Musclemass Power.

When the battle commences, the Supreme Hunter is accompanied only by a few lesser Infected, so things seem fairly simple. With the Musclemass Power equipped, Sprint around the arena and pick up a truck or green munitions crate with Sprinting Grab. When you have a suitable projectile, lock-on to the Supreme Hunter, hold down the B/Circle button for a few moments to charge the throw, and then release. Unless the creature is dangerously close, you'll want to charge each throw to deal maximum damage. The green crates and ammo containers are packed with explosives, so they are particularly effective.

When you've knocked off about a quarter of the Supreme Hunter's health, it may become stunned. While stunned, you can Grab to climb up onto its shoulders; from there, mash the X/Square button to deal damage. Shortly after this moment, more Infected will enter the area. Two Hydra, two Hunters, and a number of Evolved Infected join the fray. At this point it can be tough to continue lobbing objects at the Supreme Hunter, as the lock-on system may become sketchy with so many targets to choose from. This just means you'll have to take your time when aiming an object for a throw.

Climb atop the stunned creature and mash the X/Square button once the prompt appears to deal a significant amount of damage.

Try to ignore the new adversaries and focus exclusively on whittling away the Supreme Hunter's health bar. The military will eventually muscle their way into the Hive, which doesn't make things any easier. They serve to distract the Supreme Hunter and the other Infected at times, if nothing else.

The number of effective, throwable objects will become sparse as you continue to pelt military trucks and explosive containers at the creature. Guns are surprisingly ineffective, so avoid them completely and continue hurling rubble instead. Though tanks fare better in the damage department, actually getting inside of one and not having it destroyed within seconds is not so easy. Thrown rubble will knock off much more health than a Missile Launcher, even when not launched with a Charged Throw. There is plenty of rubble scattered around the arena, so Sprint around, pick one up with a Sprinting Grab, then take a moment to lock-on to the Supreme Hunter and throw it.

If your health is low, either Sprint around the arena until it replenishes naturally, or Sprint Grab one of the soldiers or lesser Infected and Consume somewhere far from the Supreme Hunter. Also, if you spot a Hunter staggering on the spot with a red DNA strain icon above its head, Sprint over to it, Grab hold and press the Y/Triangle button to Consume for a sizeable health boost.

The key to bringing down this beast is to keep your distance, so just continue Sprint Grabbing and throwing rubble at it until it falls.
