Head back to the marker on the map and hit X to continue your run. When you arrive at the marker you are informed that you need to choose the next Championship you will compete at when you get to the end of this leg of the trip.
Your choices are:
Each of the Championships will have a marker to indicate (1) whether you have a car in your Garage that is eligible for the Championship, or (2) whether you can afford a car that IS eligible if you don't have one in your Garage.
For the purposes of the Guide we are going to choose the 90s Rally Championship - which we also need to buy a car for... For that Championship the following Cars are eligible:
We opted for the 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR - but you can go with any of the eligible Cars, which won't matter. The important thing is you go with one of them so you can get some time in it driving on the Road Trip so you get used to it!
Man he was NOT kidding about scenic OR bumpy! When you arrive you will unlock the Achievement: Welcome to Sisteron (25G) Arrive at Sisteron for the first time.
First Barn Find: Abandoned Classic East of Sisteron
After you arrive but before you start racing you should be told about the first Barn Find here - when you check the map you will see a large white radar area marked - you need to search through it to tighten in on the location of the barn find - so why not do that now?
Look on the map and you will see a house near the riverbed near the center right of the map - when you arrive you will trigger the animation of finding your first car - which for us was a 1973 Renault Alpine A110 1600S. Sweet!
90s Rally Championship
Now that you are here it is time to begin the 90s Rally Championship and embark on a new set of races with a new car. There are four races available for the 90s Rally Championships here in Sisterone - which you pick does not really matter as you are racing them all, but you can do them in the order we did if you like - or not...
Perimeter Sprint -- 90s Rally Trail Race (5,162 Cr. / 3,441 XP) 1 of 4
This point-to-point runs over mixed surfaces - which means pavement and dirt. That's OK, this is a Rally Car after all, it was made for this. That said however, you will find that your best results happen when you are consistent and avoid abrupt and extreme actions. Taking the podium for this race should not be a challenge...
Citadel Cross Country - 90s Rally Cross Country (5,239 Cr. / 3,493 XP) 2 of 4
Cross Country generally means just that - with the track route leaving paved surfaces and heading into brush and woods every so often, and this is no exception. We get fields, dirt, a riverbed, and a fair bit of mixed road surface, so hey, enjoy!
High Speed Sprint - 90s Rally Sprint Race (5,579 Cr. / 3,719 XP) 3 of 4
A nice comfortable Sprint Race - that's going from Point A to Point B as fast as you can and ideally without doing any damage to your car. This is the sort of race that can lead to large Skill Bonuses as long as you keep an eye on your mistakes and not making them :)
Abbey Cross Country - 90s Rally Cross Country (5,835 Cr. / 3,890 XP) 4 of 4
Another Cross Country race but this time it is out in the sticks at the Abbaye Des Vaux De Cernay, or at least the ruins of the Abby. Same rules apply here as before - keep a tight reign on your steering, no abrupt or sharp moves, and you should win this easily in Numero Uno!
And with your Victory at the Abby that neatly wraps up both the 90s Rally Championships and Sisteron, which means that the Road Trip will move us right along, only this time instead of heading us right for the next venue, we will instead make a brief stop-over at the next Showcase Event - which involves a Steam Train and, hey, how cool is that?
Train in Vain Showcase Event
Now there are a lot of vehicles you could race in your hoopdie - we previously took on a precision jet exhibition team after all - so the question is just what sort of Train is it that is in Vain? And just what sort of hoopdie whip are we supposed to use to beat that there train?!
Well as it turns out the train is the Hogwartz Express (no, not really but wouldn't that have been wicked cool?) - sadly it is just a run of the mill garden-variety very fast train... But hey, on the bright side the car we are to use in our race with the train is a 1968 Lancia Fulvia Coupe Rallye 1.6HF and how cool is that?
I probably do not have to remind you of this, but it does not matter who gets through the Checkpoints first - it only matters who crosses the Finish Line first! You can be last through every Checkpoint but, as long as you beat the train to the Finish Line, you win!
And you get to keep that spanking fast - well, sort of fast.. No, pretty average actually 1968 Lancia Fulvia Coupe...
You have to admit that all things considered, this was actually a rather amusing and fun race! And you get to add a car to your garage you wouldn't pay for on a bet! Now how entertaining is that I ask you?
And if that was not payment enough, you also unlock the Achievement: The Train's in Vain (10g) Beat the Train in the Horizon Showcase Event. That is a free 10g just for driving as fast as the Fulvia will go, which I have to admit is not all that fast - but it does have a very nice roll-cage and I bet we can find someplace that sells pizza nearby!
Now that the Showcase has been won we need to point the front of our ride at the Horizon Festival grounds, where we will hook up with the crew and continue the Road Trip to the next race area from there. As the Road Trip timer is already running go ahead and drive to the Festival first, then hit the menus.
A Few Things to Consider
Before you jump right back into the Road Trip and start the next event, there are a few minor items to consider - so we thought we would address them here...
Car Club's Unlocked: Upon arrival at the Festival Grounds you unlock the Car Club System. Basically Ben fills you in briefly then prompts you to join a Car Club beloinging to one of your mates.
You have two choices right now - join a mate's club or not - if you choose not, you can quit out of this now and then go into the menus and make your own Car Club if you like. If you choose to join a mate's Car Club you should already know the three or four letter Car Club Code for their club - if not you can search for it using the Club Search box...
The SuperCheats Forza Horizon 2 Car Club - "SUCH"
The official saucy babe and mascot of the SuperCheats bullpen and clubhouse - and the wench what gets us our tea and biscuits - has previously formed a Car Club for us - so if you want to you can join that. It is an open club, you don't need permission to join...
To do that select the Club Search Box and enter the following without the quites into the second search parameter (Club Tag) "SUCH" - that stands for SUperCHeats.
The search results will show you the SuperCheats Car Club - you can select Join Club and it will immediately allow you to join. The way that this works is that eventually as we gain XP that also tallies to the credit of the Club there will be reards based on the Club level. We will have to wait to see what those are!
Another interesting fact - there is an Achievement associated with the Car Club thingy: Loyal (25g) Earn 500,0000 XP for your Club.
I am reasonably certain that the way this works is that as you CP up after upi join the club the XP you earn for your character also counts for the club... So you unlock the Achievement above once you have earned 500K XP after you have joined.
For the record the entire game is not yet unlocked - specifically we have yet to unlock the Horizon Promo photo collection thingy, And unless you sought them out and completed them there are also the Bucket Lists, Car Meat races, Online Road Trips, so still plenty to do - and you could do some of it now, before you continue on the Road Trip... Or not, whatever! :)
