Horizon Promo Collection

After you arrive in Montellino either flagged by itself or when you visit the Car Meet you will unlock the next special Mode and Collection: Horizon Promo.

This special photo collection has you snapping pics of specific Cars out in the wilds of France and Italy, with the ultimate goal being to turn into Ben a completed set of photos for the cars that are on his list.

As you work your way towards completeing this collection you will earn extra credits - which will be useful for purchase of Cars - and an Achievement called Photographer (20G) Take photos of 100 different cars for Horizon Promo.

The Horizon Promo Collection - Packed full of Bonuses!

Intro to Horizon Promo

During the Introduction and reveal for this collection, Ben will tell you that in addition to the standard fee, Ben will pay you bonus credits every so many photos.

What he will not tell you is that the Promo scheme is based on groupings. To give you an idea of what we mean, here are the basic requirements for this collection - by manufacturer and the grouping counts for same:

Unlocking the related Achievement requires only 100 unique photos - there are 245 vehicles in the total collection - a number of recent entries are not included.

To take a photo, get relatively close to the target vehicle and then press (and hold) UP on the D-Pad to open the camera mode.

Once camera mode is open you can move around the immediate area and line up your shot. Taking a photo of a car for the Promo is not the same as the regular photo shoot action in that doing this causes a special Interface to appear - when you shoot a photo the interface will inform you whether or not you already captured that car, and if not, it lists your reward(s).

This screen will reveal the number of Cars in that group you have taken photos of and how many remain un-snapped, it will tell you what the progress is towards your bonus, and it will indicate that the process has been completed.

There is no need to save the photo you took to disk - unless you actually want to.

Note that if there is more than one car in the frame and they are all recognizable, each car will be accessed for the Promo.

Whichever car models are needed wiill be recorded, and you will get credit for all that apply as well. In any case all of the Cars you earn off of are on the itemized list on the screen.

This collection is dead easy and lots of fun - but as some of you are really into details we would be remiss if we failed to provide that, so here we go!

There are a few things you should know... The first is that a lot of the Cars in the world look so much alike that you can easily find yourself taking photos of the same cars over and over. That can be a bit on the frustrating side, so you will want to take some steps to avoid it.

How? Glad you asked!

TO do this you may need to make a special trip to the airport to grind out some more Skill Points - because there is a Perk you can get that makes this oh so much easier!

The Paparazzi Skill Perk

This ability adds a small camera icon above any car that you need for the Promo collection. Specifically it is described as follows: An Icon appears above Cars you need for Horizon Promo.

Now it cannot get any easier than that - so hey, go out there and get the Perk Points and unlock that sucker!

In spite of its ungainly structure the displays screen for Horizon Promo actually succeeds at the task of delivering useful information all in one place...

Located off of the Main Menu under the PROGRESS TAB, the Horizon Promo status display uses the Cars as primary focus. Inset into the top right ocrner of the car photo is a camera icon and the individual status for that car - either Captures or Not Captured.

Bearing in mind that a few of the Cars in the collection are NPC only (the players cannot own or drive them in the game) the entire collection is still very accessible nevertheless.

The display is divided into zones - the left-hand-side contains the symbol or seal for the car maker below which is an overall count of how many models for that maker are part of the Promo Collection.

The center, as previously noted, is taken up by the car and its status as Collected or not, and the right-hand-side of the display screen consists of the cumulative status stats and bonus display, as from top-to-bottom it is Next Bonus Progress, reward amount, and total Cars captures (so far).

Along the bottom of the display is the car catalog for the Promo and the top is reserved for the title tab. That sums up the display!

Note: To facilitate sorting through and evaluating your progress we suggest that the first action you take upon loading the display is to hit 'X' to open the Sort utility, then select MANUFACTURER and sort the catalog by maker so that all of the models are grouped together for each maker. Otherwise it is fairly easy to miss some.

Country of manufacturer is listed above first by the registered International License and Registration Country Code (ILRCC) - which is a small white oval plate or sticker required to be affixed to the vehicle nearby the rear-facing number plate, and then by name.

Helpful Hints & Tips

The first point you need to take to heart is that the Horizon Promo Collection and Activity is a long-term one - it is not intended to be completed in a day's play, and you are not going to manage to do that no matter how hard you try.

That said, there are some steps you can take to make the process a lot less stressful and a bit more easy for you, so we thought we would include these as helpful hints & tips here...

1. Targets of Opportunity

Generally speaking all of the Cars in the game are in motion - so most of the cars you shoot for the Promo are found-targets. That is not true 100% of the time - and in fact some of the much more difficult (think rare) cars are actually going to be encountered in fixed and therefore predictable locations. These include:

Bucket List Cars

In the version for Xbox One, the Bucket List events consist of a staged auto that is deployed at the location for the icon on the map. Many of those staged autos are the rarer and harder to find ones at least in terms of the Promo List.

That being so, you will find that the first gesture you should make in the committed route to completing the HPE is to visit each of those locations - preferably after you have unlocked the Fast Travel Anywhere Perk, and smashed all of the Fast Travel Bonus Boards.

When you arrive at each location, snap a pic of the car and, if it is one that you have not previously snapped it will credit in the HPE status screen you are shown now that the Promo is an active part of your game.

Car Classes and Races

Do not be shocked to discover as you work your way through the races that make up the Horizon Festival RT and Race program to find half-a-dozen Cars in front of you at the starting line whose photo you need to take. In fact in one or two of the videos we illustrated this Guide with you saw it happen that the starting lineup of the race was packed with cars.

In that instance one of the first things you should do after the race starts - and you should do it straight away while they are all still nicely grouped together at the start - is to hold down up on the D-Pad to trigger Photo Mode and snap a pic that takes in the entire group so you get them credited straight away, no worries.

NPC Cars

This one is a bit more difficult because there will be NO flags to warn you that the car(s) you are looking at are ones you need.

Basically more than a few of the Cars from the Promo are going to be found in the game being driven by NPC drivers. As SUCH, you will need to know what the target cars you are looking for look like, and then seek them out.

The most effective way to address this situation is to try to always snap any large groups - say four or more - NPC Cars you encounter in cities or on the highway, because chances are good that one or more of the cars (especially early in the hunt) are cars you need.
