Character development consists of two core elements: Crafted Upgrades and Skill Upgrades.

I. Crafted Upgrades: The first of the two distinct Character Development Stats that expand your character's abilities from the number of weapons and items of kit you can carry to how many resource and even money you can possess and carry.

How much you can carry is half of the upgrade path for your character and represents half of the potential influence your character enjoys.

You start out with a single Weapon Slot - which means you can carry one weapon - and a basic but very limited carrying capacity across the board.

Adding to your carrying capacity is accomplished via the Crafting System, and should be the first thoughts you have in terms of progress in the game.

The following are the core headings and subjects that the Crafted Upgrades are divided into.

Ammo Bags

The Ammo Bag - and its upgrades - increases the amount of ammunition you can carry for the weapons you choose to use...

  • Upgrade 1: This upgrade requires x2 Wild Boar Skins and increases the amount of ammo you can hold for all your guns.

  • Upgrade 2: This upgrade requires x3 Bharal Skins and increases the amount of ammo you can hold for all your guns.

  • Upgrade 3: This upgrade requires x4 Clouded Leopard Skins and increases the amount of ammo you can hold for all your guns.

  • Upgrade 2: This upgrade requires x3 Yak Skins and allows you to carry x4 pieces of bait.

  • Upgrade 3: This upgrade requires x5 Bear Skin and allows you to carry x5 pieces of bait.

  • Upgrade 4: This upgrade requires x1 Gulo’s Skin and allows you to carry x6 pieces of bait.

Explosives Bags

The Explosives Bag upgrades allow you to carry an increasing amount of Explosives....

  • Upgrade 1: This upgrade requires x2 Asian Rhino Skins increasing the amount of C4 and Mines you can carry.

  • Upgrade 2: This upgrade requires x3 Snow Leopard Skins increasing the amount of C4 and Mines you can carry.

  • Upgrade 3: This upgrade requires x5 Sambar Skins increasing the amount of C4 and Mines you can carry.

  • Upgrade 4: This upgrade requires xhick Skins’ Hide increasing the amount of C4 and Mines you can carry.

Heavy Ammo Bags

The Heavy Ammunition Bag is where you carry the large rounds for crew-served weapons and its upgrades increase the amount you can carry...

  • Upgrade 1: This upgrade requires x 2 Bengal Tiger Skins and increases carrying capacity for heavy weapon ammo.

  • Upgrade 2: This upgrade requires x 3 Bear Skins and increases carrying capacity for heavy weapon ammo.

  • Upgrade 3: This upgrade requires x 4 Snow Leopard Skins and increases carrying capacity for heavy weapon ammo.

  • Upgrade 4: This upgrade requires x1 Karkadann’s Skin and increases carrying capacity for heavy weapon ammo.

Loot Bags

The Loot Bag Upgrade is just what it sounds like - upgrades that allow you to carry more loot than you previously could...

  • Upgrade 1: This upgrade requires x3 Sambar Hides and increases capacity to 60 loot items.

  • Upgrade 2: This upgrade requires x3 Pig Skins and increases capacity to 90 loot items.

  • Upgrade 3: This upgrade requires x4 Demon Fish Skins and increases capacity to 120 loot items.

  • Upgrade 4: This upgrade requires x1 Ghost Bear Skin and increases capacity to 150 loot items.

Quivers

The Quiver upgrades increase the amount of arrows and bolts that you can carry...

  • Upgrade 1: This upgrade requires x1 Pig Skin and increases arrow carrying capacity.

  • Upgrade 2: This upgrade requires x3 Clouded Leopard Skins and increases arrow carrying capacity.

  • Upgrade 3: This upgrade requires x4 Honey Badger Skins and increases arrow carrying capacity.

  • Upgrade 4: This upgrade requires x1 Tenzin’s Skin and increases arrow carrying capacity.

Syringe Kits

  • Upgrade 3: This upgrade requires x4 Asian Rhino Skins.

  • Upgrade 4: This upgrade requires x1 Mad Devil’s Skin.

Weapon Holsters

You start out with a single weapon capacity - you can increase the number of weapons you can carry up to a total of eight via crafted holsters. Note that the Weapon Holster is the equal to Weapon Slots in practical terms.

Each holster requires a different set of resources - so you are not simply going to go out and kill 20 Honey Badgers and then craft all of the holsters you can use - you will need to obtain the specific resources you need for each craft in other words.

  • Upgrade 1: This upgrade uses x3 Tibetan Wolf Pelts.

  • Upgrade 2: This upgrade requires x3 Malayan Tapir Skins.

  • Upgrade 3: This upgrade requires x3 Honey Badger Skins.

II. Skill Upgrades: The second half of the Character Upgrade path is Skills - which are chosen and upgraded using Stat Points and special actions.

These are earned by killing things and completing missions, and permit you to spread the points over the spectrum of stats that allow you to sharpen your skills.

The Skills Sets are divided into two categories - The Tiger and The Elephant - each of which has its own basic set of values and abilities - The Tiger Tree is a skill tree that is mostly related to offensive skills and stealth, while the Elephant Tree is largely devoted to health and healing.
