Collection III - Animals

While the mineral wealth - and the wealth of labor - are widely viewed as the primary assets for most third-world nations, the animals of Kyrat represent an amazing and diverse resource that is hardly tapped into by the ruling government.

For us they represent expanded capabilities thanks to Crafting - and an important resource for survival. Adding each animal to the Collection is an important step in fully embracing both your place in the world of Kyrat, and understanding the value that each offers to the local population.

The Animal Collection consists of:

Asian Elephant

- The guardian of Kyrat, strong and noble like our King. He roams the countryside bringing luck and good fortune to all he passes, and he bows in the presence of our King Pagan Min.

Commonly Found at: Midlands Quercus and Mixed Forest, Mountainous Larch.

Asian Rhino

- His armored hide impenetrable like Paul's fortress, the rhinoceros is peaceful when left alone but he will charge with deadly strength and brandish his fearsome horn when threatened.

Commonly Found at: Midlands Quercus and Mixed Forest, Terai Alder Forest.

Assam Macaque

- The Golden Path has taken to enlisting the intelligent macaques in Kyrat as there are no more suitable recruits left int he region. Surely, it is a sign that the Golden Path is desperate.

Commonly Found at: Common to all regions.

Attack Dog

- Faithful assistants to our fighting men, these dogs were not even trained; they saw fit to carry themselves with discipline and precision because they were so inspired by Pagan Min's cause.

Commonly Found at: Enemy bases and rarely with Enemy Patrols.

Beehive

- In the noble beehive, nature mimics King Min's vision for Kyrat: Co-operative and efficient, they are willing to attack any aggressors in times of war when their leader is threatened.

Commonly Found at: In bases, Bell Towers, and general areas. These are randomly encountered.

Bengal Tiger

- The Kyrati Tiger shares many traits with the distinguished Governor Yuma, an elegant guardian who strikes without mercy against her enemies. But to the people of Kyrat, she is the loving mother who nurtures and protects her cubs.

Commonly Found at: Just south of Fortress D, X:530 Y:406

Bharal

- The bharals started migrating north over the King's Bridge when King Min first blessed Kyrat with his guidance. They preferred the sweeter grass in the north over the rotting vegetation in the south.

Black Eagle

- This majestic and noble creature watches over the land, all-seeing from the greatest of heights, reminding us that we, too, must remain vigilant for our freedom.

Commonly Found at: Don't bother looking for them mates - they will find YOU.

Black Water Dragon (Rare)

- This rare fish is named after the dark waters it prefers to lay its eggs in. Black Water Dragons are actually albino. They are prized by our great Governors for its part in extracting useful information from terrorist.

Commonly Found at: Kyra Tea Weigh Station – X:346 Y:381

Clouded Leopard

- This cat is at home in the rugged terrain of Kyrat. Mountain or river, it climbs trees and hides in tall grass, serving as an example fo the Royal Army that nothing should ever block them from their goal.

Commonly Found at: South Kyrat X:334 Y:405

Demon Fish

- The demon fish that swim in Kyrat's waters are silent and unseen until they sense someone disloyal to King Min. Then, they react, stripping the flesh from the bone before the traitor can offer any regret or contrition.

Commonly Found at: Swimming in rivers and lakes all over; use camera to spot.

Dhole

- As long as Kyrat is split in two, stray dogs will continue to wander, lost and alone. Only when the Golden Path threat is ended can King Min unite all orphans into one family.

Commonly Found at: Common around X:240 Y:460

Ghost Bear (Rare)

- Belief in the Ghost Bear constitutes superstition and will not be tolerated. The attack that left army soldiers mutilated and mauled was orchestrated by terrorist in large bear costumes.

Gulo (Rare)

- Among honey badgers, Gulo is the most rare and feared of them all. Some say he is the grandfather of all honey badgers, but everyone knows the one true father of all things in Kyrat is King Min.

Commonly Found at: Pranijigat School – X:346 Y:625

Himalayan Brown Bear

- This strange and unique creature was not ntaive to Kyrat until King Min decided the people deserved to have this storybook animal roam their wilderness, and made his will reality.

Commonly Found at: Chal Jama Monastery, south Kyrat. X:476 Y:465

Himalayan Monal

- The Monal scurries around with no direction and it isn't a smart animal. It is easy prey for predators, not unlike the citizens of Krat in the face of the dangerous Golden Path.

Commonly Found at: Randomly encountered pretty much everywhere. Usually in or near grass.

Honey Badger

- The tenacious honey badger displays the fighting spirit of the Royal Guard with its unwillingness to quit, its relentlessness against foes, and cunning in the face of adversity.

Commonly Found at: More common in Midlands and Terai; some located near the Valley of Death.

Karkadann (Rare)

- After the failure of a reality show featuring this rare rhino, the Karkadann fled into the Kyrati bush. Now it only makes rare appearances to forage for food or drink from a cool pool when it thinks no one is looking.

Mad Devil (Rare)

- As with common wolves, Kyrati residents need not fear an encounter unless they find themselves behind the bars of a Royal Army prison. Unlike regular wolves, the Mad Devil delivers a dose of insanity with each bite.

Malayan Tapir

- The tapir is a large, awkward animal that lumbers through the forest, seemingly without direction and easy prey for tigers and stronger animals. It is a reminder to our loyal citizens that some animals exist to feed the kingdom.

Commonly Found at: Around X:278 Y:450

Mugger Crocodile

- Ancient and feared, this great hunter has not evolved in millennium because it's been perfect for so long; it proves that the truth does not need to be perfected or embellished.

Commonly Found at: Mostly in rivers and on river banks.

Nepalese Crow

- Some citizens claim that crows hold the reincarnated souls of all citizens who died tyring to fight King Min. While the Ministry of Social Harmony cannot endorse such superstitions, it thanks its citizens for such loving beliefs.

Commonly Found at: Very common and found practically everywhere.

Pig

- The pig roots around in the mud and wallows in its own filth. It is thankful to be slaughtered and eaten, for only then does it have a higher purpose as food and fuel for the Royal Army cause.

Commonly Found at: Mostly near farms.

Pit Viper

- Pagan Min has decreed that pit viper meat is safe for consumption. He has a cook dedicated to preparation of pit viper stew and he enjoys adding pit viper meat to his Crab Rangoon.

Commonly Found at: Grassy areas near the Bell Towers.

Red Crowned Turtle

- Slow of foot, but hard of shell, one can easily see the similarities between the red crowned turtle and the Golden Path. A grenade stuffed down the throat, however, is more than sufficient when dealing with both.

Commonly Found at: Near bodies of water.

Sambar

- The ministry of Animal Control declares the sambar a large vermin, and encourages the slaughter of these animals. The flesh of the sambar is unhealthy and unwholesome because it rubs itself in its own urine-soaked soil.

Commonly Found at: Mostly in wooded areas.

Shadow Leopard (Rare)

- Thanks to King Min's generous distribution of hand-held mirrors, Shadow Leopard attacks fro behind have decreased by over 70 percent. This fact is brought to you by the Society for Social Harmony.

Sky Tiger (Rare)

- The rare an beautiful Sky Tiger will continue to rule over the wilds of Kyrat just as our gracious King Min rules over our civilized lands. Should any citizen fall prey to the Sky Tiger, know that it would have been the same justice meted out by King Min.

Snow Leopard

- The snow leopard is among the most regal and elegant of all cats, its image so glorious that is rivals that of our beloved King Min. Therefore, should one cross your path, you should shoot the snow leopard on sight.

Commonly Found at: The Himalayas

Tenzin (Rare)

- A wild dog remains a wild dog, regardless of whether you give it a name or not. Report any sightings of Tenzin to your nearest Royal Army officer for immediate action so the creature can be put down.

Commonly Found at: Kyra Tea Terraces – X:391 Y:330

Thick Skin (Rare)

- While most elephants never forget, this thick skinned rarity also as a penchant for vengeance. Pagan Min's Sector for the Use of Abusive Animals is looking into harnessing these vengeful qualities, but until then, residents are warned to stay away.

Commonly Found at: Rajgad Gular – X:808 Y:788

Tibetan Wolf

- While the appearance of the Tibetan wold may be alarming, Kyrati residents can take comfort in the knowledge they will only meet one if they have been placed under arrest. Any other mention of encounters, such as those in the wild, are false.

Commonly Found at: Common in South Kyrat. X:407 Y:425

White Chested Bear

- AKA Moon Bear / AKA Asian Black Bear. Within the year, all white-chested bears will be painted pink to honor our great king and fearless leader, Pagan Min.

Commonly Found at: Rivers and valleys in mountainous areas.

Wild Boar

- Known mostly for their sweet and succulent meat, wild boar are vicious creatures and should be avoided unless absolutely necessary, or when preparing breakfast fit for King Min.

Commonly Found at: Common North of Banapur: X:226 Y:457 / far Southeast corner: X:488 Y:356

Yak

- Like our beloved King Pagan Min, the Yak is a beacon of power and working tirelessly for the people of Kyrat. A shining example of the self-sacrifice and commitment to the greater good that our King himself has brought to this great nation.

Commonly Found at: Common to all regions.

While every effort was made during the two game play-throughs we completed and which this part of the guide is based to document every animal for this Collection, it is possible that we missed one or more of them.
