Item Synthesis

Item Synthesis

Item Synthesis takes place in the Moogle's Item Workshop, kupo.
The workshop can only be accessed after getting access to the Green Trinity, kupo. You must use Green Trinity #4 in the Accessory Shop to bring down the ladder. Once you do, the door at the top will open up as well.

Item Synthesis is carried out by the Moogles, who are an established figure in Final Fantasy. The one near the furnace is the one you need to talk too.

Bring in Synthesis Items you find out on the field that have no use elsewhere, and have them melted down into something very valuable.

You can make everything on the synthesis lists more then once. However, synthesizing the same item twice wont count towards your synthesis count (in other words, you must synthesis x number of unique items to unlock the next list).

For a complete synthesis (one of every item) you'll need:
- Blaze Gem (x11)
- Blaze Shard (x11)

Material Routes

There are several different routes you can take through certain areas to get specific ingredients. Granted, you CAN find the ingredient wherever the enemy that drops it is found, but you will want to maximize your gathering by finding areas where said enemy is prevalent, no? I'll run through them.

Remember to have as many Treasure Magnet abilities equipped as you can. Add to that all the Lucky Strikes your party has to maximize your efforts.

--== Forest Route ==--

Place: Wonderland
Time: Anytime after you've cleared Wonderland

Items obtainable:
- Spirit Shard
- Thunder Shard
- Frost Shard
- Spirit Gem
- Lucid Shard

Route:
Land at the Queens Castle. Enter Lotus Forest *White Mushroom Warning* and go all the way to the back into Tea Party Garden. Go through the doorway into the Bizarre Room. Retrace your steps all the way back to Queens Castle. Repeat.

Route by Pictures:

Start

->

*White Mushroom*

->

Final Room

Breakdown:
Great route for Shards early on. Even after you visit Hollow Bastion you'll face Wizards and Darkballs increasing your goods, however your chances at Lucid Shards go down.

--== Mini-Power Route ==--

Place: Deep Jungle
Time: Anytime after you've cleared Deep Jungle

Items obtainable:
- Power Shard
- Bright Gem
- Mystery Goo

Route:
Land at Camp: Tent. Exit the tent *White Mushroom Warning* *Cure* and head right to the Bamboo Thicket. Head to the back of the area and into Cliff area. Turn about and go all the way back into the Tent.

Route by Pictures:

Start

*White Mushroom* *Cure*

->

Final Room

Breakdown:
Granted, this route is the only one that will get you Power Shards, but more importantly it's the best route to get White Mushrooms. I've found in all my playthroughs that the Camp area has the highest chance of producing White Mushrooms. These Mushrooms specialize in Cure, but you can also get your Fire/Thunder/Blizzard off them as well. Not to mention the other items you can get after Hollow Bastion.

--== Wonder Route ==--

Place: Agrabah
Time: Anytime after you've obtained a Gravity spell

Items obtainable:
- Spirit Gem
- Blaze Gem
- Lucid Shard
- Lucid Gem
- Mystery Goo

Route:
Land in the Dark Chamber and head up the stairs behind you to the Hall. Follow the flow down into the Bottomless Hall. Over the gap and into the next doorway leading to the Treasure Room. *White Mushroom Warning* *Gravity* exit back out into the Bottomless Hall and jump into the pit. You land in the Silent Chamber. Enter the cave that leads back to the Dark Chamber. Repeat.

Route by Picture:

Start

->

->

*White Mushroom* *Gravity*

->

Final Room

Breakdown:
This is a very very good route for a couple reasons. One, it's the only continuous route in Agrabah, nay, the game, where you can get Blaze Gems. Second, you have a pretty good chance at running into Gravity White Mushrooms, which not only get you Lucid Gem and Mystery Goo, but also is pretty much the only place to get your Gravity Arts. Further, if you've been to Hollow Bastion you'll run into Wizards, Wyvern, and Darkballs.

--== Undersea Route ==--

Place: Atlantica
Time: Any time after you've cleared Atlantica

Items obtainable:
- Frost Gem
- Thunder Gem
- Bright Gem
- Power Gem

Route:
Land in Tranquil Grotto. Make your way across the Undersea Valley into Calm Depths. Swim so that you are at the place with the updraft. Take the cave to the Undersea Cave *White Mushroom Warning* *Stop Spell*, and from there swim up to Undersea Gorge. Swim straight across to the Sunken Ship, then into Below Deck *White Mushroom Warning* *Stop Spell*. Out back to Sunken Ship, then to Calm Depths. Repeat.

Route by Picture:

Start

->

->

*White Mushroom* *Stop*

->

->

->

*White Mushroom* *Stop*

Finish

Breakdown:
As far as Frost and Thunder gems go, this is better done before visiting Hallow Bastion, as afterward there will be a lot of Darkballs along this route. Its not a bad thing, but it does lessen the likelihood of you getting gems.

--== Undead Route ==--

Place: Halloween Town
Time: Anytime after you've cleared Halloween Town

Items obtainable:
- Lucid Gem
- Lucid Shard
- Bright Gem
- Mystery Goo

Route:
From Guillotine Square, enter the Graveyard *White Mushroom Warning* *Aero*. Target the platform on the left side and hit it with Fire. Jump on to be taken to the Moonlight Hill *Black Fungus Warning*. Examine the stone on the hill to be taken to the Bridge *Rare Truffle Warning*. Jump down into the gorge and exit back to Guillotine Square via the sewers.

Route by Pictures:

Start

*White Mushroom* *Aero*

->

*Black Fungus*

->

*Rare Truffle* Final Room

Breakdown:
If you're feeling lucky, the Wonder Route might actually be better for Lucid Gem/Shard, as you can cast Gravity on the White Mushrooms in the Treasure Room to get Lucid also, plus you can get other materials while you're there. But, this route also gives you the chance to run into all the mushroom types if you need Mystery Goo. Also after you've visited Hollow Bastion, you will also face Wizards and Darkballs here, giving you more item goodies.

--== Power Route ==--

Place: Neverland
Time: Anytime after you've cleared Neverland

Items obtainable:
- Power Gem
- Thunder Shard

Route:
Start at Ship: Cabin. Float up into the upper cabin. Exit to the outside of the ship *Rare Truffle Warning*. Go through the door on deck-level (not the one that leads to the cabin). Enter the door down the hall from you. Repeat.

Route by Pictures:

Start

->

*Rare Truffle*

Final Room

Breakdown:
The only other way to get Power Gems is from White Mushrooms in Atlantica. Depending on how many times you have to take the Undersea Route to get your Thunder and Frost Gems, you may not need to take this route as you don't need that many Power Gems.

--== Scenic Route ==--

Place: Traverse Town
Time: After first visit to Hollow Bastion

Items obtainable:
- Bright Crystal
- Bright Gem
- Bright Shard
- Lucid Crystal
- Lucid Shard
- Power Crystal
- Shiny Crystal
- Spirit Shard

Route:
Start at First District and enter into Second District via the door behind the accessory shop. Follow the ledge around the left side and enter the Gizmo Shoppe. Come out the other side and climb the ladder to the roof. Jump across to the rooftops back toward First District. At the cellar door that leads to Third District, jump back down to the center of the area. Start like you're going to the Dalmatians house, then turn and go back to the ally that leads to Third District. In Third, take the ramp down into the center, then finally out into First District. Repeat.

Route by Pictures:

Start

->

->

->

->

->

->

->

->

Finish

Breakdown:
This route is excellent later in the game, as it gets you all the different types of crystals with minimum wasted effort. Now, given the relative rarity of crystals, it will take many trips through to collect all the material you need, but the experience is very good and the area is very conducive to the enemies you'll fight. Not to mention you pass a save point every time you head back to First District. This is also far FAR better then roaming around Hollow Bastion to get the same enemies.

--== Route X ==--

Place: End of the World
Time: After you've reached Final Rest

Items obtained:
- Gale
- Orichalcum
- Mythril

Route:
Land at Final Rest. Go through the Emblem-shaped hole. Defeat all the enemies then go back to the save point at Final Rest. Repeat.

Route by Picture:

Start

->

Finish

Breakdown:
Why Route X? Because it sounds cool. :)
Honestly, there's no other place you can go to get these materials. All the materials that they drop are extremely rare (except Gale, which seems common by comparison) however, so it's going to take a while. There is also a good chance to run into all Mushroom types here as well. This room will spawn all three types, though pretty rarely.

We'll the rare blue truffles are killed by hitting them 100 times in a row Using aero on yourself and going underneath the truffle when it jumps is good. Be carful though once it hits the ground It gets angry

The hotel hallway in the second district also spawns 3 defenders and 6 wizards, if you include this in the route it becomes even more effective.
