Now that we have taken a look around and you have had the opportunity to use the Sense a bit, head through the door we opened with the key and down the stairs.
Examine the upper right corner of the play screen and you will see the HUD - or Head's-Up Display. There is a radar map, and a small prompting line just to its left (below the time and weather indicator) as well as a Task Description Line below. You will be making a lot of use of these so recognize their importance now!
When you reach the bottom of the stairs you get another CS then you have a conversation that reveals that the girl is your adoptive daughter Ciri.
You are now presented with the opportunity for your first Tutorial - Running the Wall.
You want to learn to hold A to run, and use B to jump. You also learn to use ladders and the penalty for NOT using them. Which is to get hurt.
After another CS you are prompted to begin the Combat Tutorial.
The Combat Tutorial begins with a run-down of the different skills that the Witcher possesses... Sword Craft (Iron and Silver), Alchemy, and Magic being the primary ones.
As you work through this Tutorial you learn to use Left-D-Pad to draw and sheath your sword, and RJ to select your target after you do. So with your opponent targeted clock down on the Right Joystick to select them and then try some swings.
You then learn to use the LT for parry and riposte and how to use Signs.
Next you learn that while LB allows you to select Signs and Items, RT is the action button for Signs and RB for Items. Easey Peasy!
You can now do some free training until you are happy you have mastered this lesson, then just sheath your sword with the D-Pad and that will trigger the next CS in which things go sort of pear-shaped.
That's OK as all that results is you waking up back in camp... And another CS and conversation.
Yeah, sadly this was not a memory but a true dream - of something that he would like to have been.
Something important for you to know in this conversation - when there are multiple options and one is in gold, that is the option that moves the conversation forward. The ones in white you can do to learn what they can teach you without actually moving the conversation forward.
So you may want to exhaust the white options BEFORE you choose a gold one.
You now learn that the young witch you are tracking is actually Yennefer!
