To head to Santeroule, you have to stop over by the town of Myiddok first. The paths leading to the other locations are blocked off for now as part of the story. Staying at the inn will trigger the events to continue with the main story so while you’re still there, make sure to head to Welch’s lab to unlock a new sidequest, “The End of Welch’s Laboratory”. You can’t tackle it right now so just set the details aside for the meantime. Another thing is that Myiddok is where you can find the NPCs necessary to continue the second objective in the sidequest “Find Ruddle”.
When ready, take a rest at the inn to trigger a cutscene. Your party will jump off to safety in the dead of the night but you still have to leave the town through the eastern exit. You’ll have to traverse a new area with new enemies called the West of Eastern Eihieds.
Fight your way through the linear mountain path. (Refer to the map below for the item and harvest point locations) About halfway in the map, you’ll find a temporary healing point and a savepoint. Use this to your advantage since you’ll technically fighting only with three combatants. Even with the soothing presence of the convenient healing point nearby, don’t bother farming with just this too few party members yet. Make your preparations then continue forth; avoid engaging enemies for the meantime until you reach the wide open space uphill.
You’ll encounter the same group of mysterious men. At the start of the battle, they’ll be invulnerable to attacks. Just keep your HP up until Anne and Emmerson appears. They’ll disable the enemy shields which will enable you to defeat them normally. Take note that even with their shields down, they’re not pushovers and they’ll most likely go after your healers and spellcasters. Keep them alive through items and spells until the battle is over. Anna and Emmerson will join the party afterward.
Emmerson is your ranged physical attacker, capable of scoring critical hits from a distance. If you decide to control him, make sure to keep him at a safe distance. Anne is capable of delivering raw damage up close. Her physical damage capability is exceptionally high compared to the other members of the party at a cost of her low defense. With good healing backup and her impressive “Hammer of Might” skill, Anne is very good in clearing crowds of enemies
You can now make use of the healing point if you want and train here a bit to earn some extra exp, SP, and Fol. When ready, proceed to the overlook to trigger a short cutscene. There’s also an entrance to a Cathedral of Oblivion in the small rock ramp beside the cliff overlooking Santeroule. When you’re ready to continue, make your way down to Santeroule to proceed with the story.
