Head to the ship’s bridge to trigger the next set of scenes. You’ll then be in your private quarters. Head outside to find Emmerson and Victor talking. Once they’re done, head to the bridge to continue with the story. During warp and after receiving General Alma’s transmission, Emmerson will then tell the party to rest up. He and the Others will regroup as well.
Continuing forth with the story is the point of no return in the game (or at least until you complete the next mission) so make sure to finish all pending sidequests, farming/grinding, and private actions. There’s at least one new private action in the ship as well. The one you’ll get at this point is titled “Anne’s First Mission”. This will unlock the Instructor role which increases the EXP gained by the party up to 50%. For SP farming tips, check out this page. There are two more PAs in Santeroule and the last one in Central Resulia.
A Moment's Solace
In addition, you’ll be able to determine which female member of your party who’ll you’ll talk to in the evening after resting in your private quarters in this chapter. This is affected by that character’s affinity towards you. Affinity is a hidden value in the game that is affected by Private Actions and your responses to certain questions by party members during a private action.
There are also two items that directly affect the affinity of a character: Love Potion No. 256 and Emotional Destabilizer. The former increases the affinity of the character you used it on towards Fidel. It also requires an incredibly rare material called Lezard’s Flask but I recommend just focusing other medicine recipes through Synthesis since there’s a large chance that you’ll get this potion as a by-product from 40+ impurity synthesis attempts.
Emotional Destabilizer can also forcibly reduce the affinity of a character towards Fidel. Be careful when using it though since it will also affect the ending. If you need to craft more Love Potions, the Ruddle Shop in Central Resulia should have the ingredients to synthesize them but it can be pricey (Ruby x1, Iron x1, Blue Roses x4 = 20/43 quality/impurity ratio) Love Potions and Emotional Destabilizers seem to appear frequently between the 42-43 impurity range. Of course, always save your game before mass synthesizing so you can reload in case the batch doesn’t produce desirable results.
Also, due to the multiple possible endings in the game which will depend on the characters’ affinity to Fidel, it’s recommended to craft 20 E. Destabilizers and 20 Love Potions while you still have access to the Ruddle Shop. That way, you can manipulate the endings by forcibly lowering/increasing the affection level between the characters before the final boss fight.
When ready, make your backup save at this point then head to your private quarters. Before sleeping, you’ll get a warning that you won’t be able to return to Faykreed, not until you complete the entire mission. If you’ve completed all your pending businesses in the planet and sure that you’re really to go, proceed through the confirmation screens and sleep.
When Fidel wakes up, he will be alone so head to the transport room and the party member you’ll see staring at the viewing deck has the highest affinity towards Fidel. If you made a backup save and you prefer a different character to talk with during this special conversation, reload the game and feed that character with lots of Love Potions. If you keep seeing the character you don’t want to spend the special moment with, you can give that character at least one Emotional Destabilizer but avoid doing this excessively!
After the brief alone time with your party member, more cutscenes will continue. Head to the bridge once a plan is established. Go to the transporter to trigger another cutscene. You can’t use the transporter so you have to head to the cargo bay to use the shuttle. Head to the lift then enter the shuttle. Another cutscene will trigger and you’ll finally be inside the asteroid base where General Alma is located.
