There’s a lot of games with vague or imaginative titles which makes it challenging to identify what their gameplay is about. Shining Beyond is no different; if you haven’t seen the trailer or or gameplay videos, you won’t be able to tell what the game is about from the name alone. In this page, we will discuss what the game has to offer and help new players set their expectations about the game.
Shining Beyond follows the standard mobage (mobile game) JRPG formula where you’ll have a team of heroes on a quest to vanquish the greater evil. The game features a gacha (lottery) system which gives players opportunities to summon more powerful heroes or obtain materials to strengthen the heroes they already have. Heroes are the key element in the game. There are four different hero classes in the game: Warrior, Rogue, Archer, and Acolyte. In order to tackle challenges, you’ll have to form a team composed of four heroes. Players can further empower their favorite/selected heroes through leveling up, promotion, equipment, job level up, awakening and more.
There are also daily quests and other tasks which will allow you to collect rewards, including the premium currency of the game: Gems. As with similarly-structured mobile games, there are optional microtransactions. However, this doesn’t mean that much content is locked behind a paywall. It’s satisfying to know that you can access all the game’s content for free. So if you’re just playing the game casually for the waifus and personal team preference, then you’ll enjoy the game fully without spending anything. On the other hand, if you’re the type to spend money to make things easier, competitive enough to get the high-end equipment, or simply wanted to afford cosmetic skins for your favorite characters, then the game has several paid options to enable that as well.
Players can deploy a team composed of four heroes. Each stage has several “rooms” that must be cleared, and a single or group of enemies that serve as the boss for that stage. The game’s auto-combat is enabled quite early in the game, so you don’t have to give your full attention when dungeon crawling. The game offers options to play with or against other players. You can tackle other players via the Arena or play cooperatively with up to two other friends to take down powerful enemies with a party composed of 12 heroes.
The game also boasts having an Idle Combat System where your party will automatically fight enemies on the latest stage you have cleared while also earning the rewards while you’re not playing the game. This system allows you to collect rewards up to 12 hours worth of auto-combat. Aside from the standard story dungeons, there are also event dungeons and daily stages that players can tackle for additional rewards.
Each character has a variety of skills at their disposal ranging from the active combat skills, passive skills, aura, mastery, or stat skills. These skills will improve as the character gets stronger as well. When in auto-battle, heroes will use their battle skills automatically.
