In Shining Beyond, there are several different types of dungeons or stages in the game where some heroes excel at so it’s actually recommended to change the formation of your heroes to take advantage of their masteries and give you an advantage for clearing a particular stage or dungeon. In this page, we’ll discuss how to properly manage your team and how to get the most out of their combat potential.
You can access the Team option in the lower-left corner of the screen. This allows you to manage your team’s composition, formation, and even set battle items to provide them buffs during combat.
Hero Selection
You can deploy up to four heroes in a combat team. Normally, you can have an ideal team by including one of each hero class to cover all roles but that will still depend on the formation you’ve selected (refer to Team Formation below) and the type of challenge supposed to be clearing. Thankfully, the game allows you to have different formations for different scenarios. You can do this by tapping the drop-down in the upper-middle of the screen, as shown below. You can have different teams for clearing Story, Dungeon, Event, Arena, Tower, Event Tower, and Raid.
Team Mastery
You can check the team’s overall mastery by tapping the Team Mastery Button on the lower-left. Each hero has 2-3 masteries each. All masteries reduce the damage taken by the team against enemies on specific battle modes and enemies, while also increasing the team’s damage against them. These individual masteries will be considered during the formation. If several characters share the same masteries, those effects will be stacked together, making enemy damage reduction and team damage boost effects even more potent. In the example below, my team’s total Arena Mastery is 25%. This is because Athena, Artemis, and Mei Fang have Arena Masteries, with individual levels at 9%, 7%, and 9%. If you have a lot of properly configured heroes, it won’t hurt trying different hero combinations dedicated to specific modes or content-clearing.
Team Formation
There are 12 formations in the game which you can unlock automatically as your player rank increases. These formations determine the position of your heroes in the battlefield when you deploy them. The first three formations doesn’t have any stat bonuses but the remaining formations have varying stat buffs depending on the hero classes you’ve included in the formation.
The colored squares in the formation previews determine the type of hero you can assign to that position. Blue for
Warrior, Green for Archers, Pink for Acolytes, Purple for Rogues. White squares can be occupied by any class.
Battle Items
Finally, we’ll tackle the Battle Items. These are consumables that can be carried in battle and will be used by your team automatically. There are four item slots. You’ll start off with a single item slot but more slots will be unlocked as you increase your player rank.
That concludes our quick rundown how to manage your team and set their formation in Shining Beyond. Please check out our other individual guide pages for this game, especially our page for the game’s highest rated heroes and the
