Effort Value Training use to be a hassle to do with any Pokemon, with needing to keep mental track of what Pokemon you defeat and how many EVs were earned. With the Sixth Generation came Super Training and Horde Battles, making it much easier to earn EVs and plenty of them at one time. But now, in the Seventh Generation, Super Training is out and Horde Battles exist no more. So many things have changed where EV Training is concerned in just one Generation of Pokemon; yet, things couldn't be more simpler this time around.
To start, a player can check how much EV Training they have done by going into their Pokemon's Profile and viewing the graph of their stats. This graph will now show exactly how much training has been done with that given Pokemon, with clicking the Y Button to further get more details on this and the Pokemon's Base Stats.
The Power Items and their effects have also increased significantly, going from adding 5 additional EVs for a given stat to actually giving that Pokemon 8 additional EVs depending on the Power Item they're holding. Horde Battles have also been replaced with SOS Battles where Pokemon call for help from other Pokemon, with said SOS Pokemon giving your Pokemon x2 EVs of its given highest stat. With use of both a Power Item and having Pokerus, a player can max-out one of their Pokemon's given stats with an SOS Chain as little as 7 KO'd Pokemon.
A player can even use Festival Plaza and Poke Pelago to EV Train their Pokemon. On Isle Evelup in Poke Pelago, a player can put some of their Pokemon to play, and they will actually earn specific EVs depending on what course you have them play. In Festival Plaza, a player can send their Pokemon through Bouncy Houses to earn EVs, as well as eat at Restaurants to earn items to do so. A player can even earn items from Festival Plaza to actually lower their Pokemon's EVs, just in case they accidentally made a mistake in the process.
A lot has now changed with EV Training, but for the better no less. All the enhancements, what they should be looked at as, actually has made something once so hassling and frustrating into something so simple with ease.
