Primal Groudon

Category: Continent Pokémon
Type: Ground/Fire
Ability: Desolate Land
Height: 16' 05"
Weight: 2,204.4 lbs.

The energy that fills its body pours forth as magma, and it burns with such an extreme temperature that its body is always shimmering with the haze of its heat.

Primal Reversion is a transformation sequence similar to Mega Evolution that only Groudon and Kyogre are known to use at the moment. Groudon becomes Primal Groudon after transformation which gives it the Fire sub-type, that enables it to deal STAB (same type attack bonus) damage using fire-type moves, and the Desolate Land ability. Its Attack, Defense, and SP Atk stats are already high prior to the transformation; they get boosted even further without any consequence of lowering its other stats.

Size comparison

Desolate Land is Primal Groudon's exclusive ability. It causes an extremely harsh sunlight has the same effects as Sunny Day but with some additional effects:

  • The weather stays active as long as the ability-bearer remains in battle, but stops when the Pokémon is switched out.
  • Water type attacks "evaporate" and have no effect.
  • The extremely harsh sunlight cannot be replaced by a regular weather condition - in other words the moves Hail, Rain Dance, Sunny Day, and Sandstorm, and the abilites Drizzle, Drought, Sand Stream, and Snow Warning will fail.
  • The abilities Cloud Nine or Air Lock are still able to bypass the effects of Desolate Land.

Precipice Blades is a Ground-type move exclusive to Groudon is a powerful attack that can hit multiple opponents. Scores of sharp rocks surge upward to spear its foes.
