Litteroot Town

You start your game with the basics: choosing your character’s name and gender.

The scene then moves on to in the back of a moving truck. Once you alight the truck, you will be greeted by your mom. She will tell you to go inside your house and check your room out. Go upstairs and check the clock on the wall to set it.

Head downstairs and your mom will tell you to visit your neighbor. Head for the house next door and you will be greeted by your neighbor and she will tell you to introduce yourself to her child.

Go upstairs and you will be greeted by your rival. If your character is a girl, your rival will be Brendan. If your character is a boy, your rival will be May.

After the Introduction, your rival will be on his way. Leave the house and head north to Route 101 to meet Professor Birch.

In order to help fend him from the wild Poochyena, you will be asked to select a Pokémon to fight with. Choose your starter and defeat the Poochyena.

Once the battle is done, Professor Birch will take you to his lab. He will give you the Pokémon that you used earlier and inform you that his child is at Route 103.

You can also check the AreaNav on the lower screen of your 3DS to view the map of Hoenn.

You can now continue on to the next town. Before doing so, head to your home and talk to your Mom so that she can heal your Pokémon.

Route 101

Head back to where you first met Professor Birch. Route 101 is a very short and direct route. There are no trainers here so just make your way left, up, left and up again to oldale Town.
