About Rating Battles

Rating Battles can be launched from the Battle Spot option in your PSS screen. In Pokémon Global Link, you can view your rank and check the ranking of participants from around the world. You can also see what Pokémon are popularly used in Rating Battles. Rankings are determined separately for each battle format. Top-ranking players in each format will receive a Medal to acknowledge their performance.

How to check and update your battle records

• Register for the Pokémon Trainer Club.
• Have a Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Game Card for the Nintendo 3DS system.
• Be able to connect to the Internet via your Nintendo 3DS.

How to be included in rankings

Choose Rating Battle from the Battle Spot in the PSS menu, choose regulations, and then connect to the Internet. You’ll download a Digital Player ID the first time you participate in a Rating Battle. Your battle records will be saved to this Digital Player ID.

Note: Your battle record will be reset if you change your Nintendo 3DS system and participate in a Rating Battle without first migrating your system data.

When battling online, make sure you have a good connection to the Internet and show your best sportsmanship. In particular, make sure you play each match to its completion and do not disconnect before the match is complete. If you disconnect before a match is complete, it will count as a loss for you.

Rankings are calculated separately for ΩR/αS league and X/Y league. Your battle records are determined automatically, but it may take some time for them to be displayed at the Pokémon Global Link.

How to check rankings of Trainers from all over the world

You can select Rating Battle in the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the PGL home page. Alternatively, if you’re logged in, you can click the Rating Battle button in the upper left of the home page. Data for the most recent season will be displayed, but you can also view past seasons. If you made it into the ranking for a season, you can check your own place in the ranking.

You can also view more specific results by filtering the ranking by region or by friends. Click a Trainer’s icon in the ranking to view more detailed information about that Trainer’s performance in other battle formats. You can also check that Trainer’s profile if they have set it to be viewable by others.

About Seasons

Rating Battle seasons usually last two months, at which point the final ranking for that season is determined. New seasons usually begin after the scheduled maintenance period at the end of a season. When a new season begins, everyone’s rating and win/loss record is reset.

The Special battle format contains a unique rule set that changes every season. Click the View Current Regulations button at the top of the Special battle format ranking page for details about the season’s rule set.

Medals

Top-ranking players in each battle format will receive a Medal after a season ends and the ranking is finalized. Different Medals are distributed for the top 100, top 500, and top 1,000 players. However, once a player has received a Medal for a specific battle format in one season, they won’t be able to receive that Medal again.

Pokémon Ranking

You can view a variety of information about frequently used Pokémon in both current and past seasons. Information that is displayed includes:

• Moves, Abilities, Natures, Held Items
• Top 10 moves the Pokémon used to defeat other Pokémon
• Top 10 Pokémon the Pokémon defeated
• Top 10 moves that defeated the Pokémon
• Top 10 Pokémon that defeated the Pokémon

The Pokémon Ranking is determined by the Pokémon used by players with a high rating. You can see the ranking across all formats, or filter by Single, Double, Triple, Rotation, or Special to see the ranking for each different format. The rankings are calculated separately for ΩR/αS league and X/Y leagues.
