Gold Skulltulas

These are spider-like creatures that drop Illustration Pieces when hit. Illustration Pieces are required to strengthen your potion and improve the inventory of your Apothecary. The basic requirement of spawning them is by defeating 1,000 enemies. However in some scenariors in Hard mode, spawning a Skulltula will require very specific set of instructions.

After they spawned, you'll see a spiderweb in your map where the skulltula's general location is indicated. They are good in hiding but there's one thing that you should take note; listen to the background music. If your upbeat bgm suddenly quiets down or toned down, that means you're in the skulltula's immediate area. If you hear scratching noises, you're a stone's throw away from it.

They're usually located under boulders that can be destroyed using bombs. Now since these boulders may contain chests too, it is possible that players may prematurely destroy these hiding locations before even defeating 1,000 enemies. This will prevent the Skulltula from spawning, even if you hear the noise it's making.

That's why it is recommended that you save the game before reaching 1,000 kills or before the specific set of conditions are started.

You need to successfully finish the mission before the Skulltula is registered as "found". If you're defeated in a mission after defeating the skulltula, you can reload a save point or checkpoint and still finish the scenario to get the illustration piece from the Skulltula you found.
