This boss can be found past the fortress wall after defeating the Chained Ogre. This area has a lot of enemies so taking your time clear all of them and leaving the general alone. It’s okay if the general gets aggroed while you’re taking out his men. Just remember to always disengage and allow the enemies to lose aggro if several of them are already targeting you. You need to preserve your HP before facing the boss.
After communing with the idol, you can now start from the back of the fort, making it easier to assassinate the enemies. Refer to our Ashina Outskirts: Underbridge Valley EXP Farming page for the position of these enemies and what order to take them out.
Similar to Naomori Kawarada, you’ll have to sneak behind him and perform a stealth deathblow. This will make the battle a bit easier.
The same evade + lunge tactic will work, especially after his jumping slash and side stepping his normal slashes. On top of having a perilous sweeping attack, he also has a deadly thrust attack. If you want to counterattack on these opportunities, jump at his sweeping attack and side step on his thrust attack to get a free hit or two.
Yamauchi is also good at parrying so if he manages to parry your attack, take a step back to avoid his counterattack. Beware of his quick steps as well since he can easily close the gap and follow up with a deadly upward slash. His sword’s length makes this attack hard to dodge, especially if you’re caught off guard.
As mentioned before, don’t be greedy. Concentrate on counterattacking and slowly chip away his vitality. Once his hp is depleted, you can finish him off.
