Ashina Reservoir - EXP Farming

This is the same tutorial area with one sculptor’s idol only. It’s useful to farm this area if you want to skill up before facing two local mini-bosses here (Seven Ashina Spears - Shikibu Toshikatsu Yamauchi and Lone Shadow Longswordsman). Here’s the rundown of the farming method but feel free to apply your own strategy or enemy priority.

From the sculptor’s idol, take out one of the two enemies talking to each other then fall back to the stairs. Kill the wolves with your shuriken then dispose the other swordsman.

Next, head towards the gate but don’t pass through it yet. Look for the branch overlooking the cliff then grapple on the other branch on the other side. This will allow you to bypass the front yard where there are several enemies who see you.

Ignore the musketeer on the right; turn to the left immediately instead and kill the spotter before he makes any sound. You can now freely kill the musketeer behind you.

There’s another musketeer behind the gatehouse. Sneak under the gatehouse to reach this musketeer to take him out.

From there, sneak to backstab the other swordsman looking over the ridge. Backtrack to the gatehouse and exit where you entered moments ago since there are two more enemies that you need to take care of.

On the ledge beside the gatehouse, there’s a spearman with his back turned. Get rid of him then while hugging the wall, sneak behind the other enemy overlooking the gate.

From hereon, there are only three enemies remaining; the two huge ones and a straw hat swordsman behind the wall leading to the pagoda. The easiest way to deal with them is by performing a stealth kill. What I recommend is crawling under the gatehouse again and to the bushes. There’s a gap in the wall that you can pass through to sneak behind one of the large enemies with the hammer. The straw-hat swordsman won’t get aggroed so it’s safe to sneak behind the two lumbering giants and assassinate them.

Finally, take out the straw-hat swordsman to complete the farming attempt. Rest at the sculptor’s idol and repeat.
