After crafting the new tool, make sure to equip it from the equipment menu. You can only equip three prosthetic tools at a time. You can freely cycle through them by pressing Triangle. To use an equipped tool, press R2. Using Shinobi Tools consume Spirit Emblems. These can be replenished by defeating enemies or purchasing them from a Sculptor’s Idol. Each tool will have different spirit emblem cost.

Knowing what tool to use for different situations and battles can make your life a bit easier. The Loaded Axe can easily break shields, the Flame Vent can burn an enemy (or stun them, like in the case of the Chained Ogre), the Loaded Shuriken is a ranged weapon that can damage enemies or disrupt their actions.

There are also martial art skills that further complement prosthetic tools, allowing you to use them in other situations like in mid-air or even performing follow-up attacks right after using them, giving you more versatility and attack opportunities.
