You’ll encounter this boss in the entrance of Ashina Castle. There are three enemies guarding the entrance so sneak and take out the first one then hide behind some wooden panels to avoid luring the other two guards prematurely. As soon as you hide behind the panels, the bull will break free and will kill the two guards instantly.
In preparation for this battle, make sure you have the Shinobi Firecracker tool equipped. You can craft this by buying Robert’s Firecrackers from the Crow’s Nest Memorial Mob or the Battlefield Memorial Mob. Don’t use up all spirit emblems to trigger the firecrackers early in the battle. Save it when the bull’s posture gauge is about to be filled.
This boss only has one vitality bar. The bull’s flaming horns can fill up your burn gauge and can still damage you even you block/parry. However, parrying and blocking its attacks is the best way to significantly lessen the damage you take while also giving you the opportunity to counterattack.
This boss’s posture gauge doesn’t recover so your main objective is to land powerful attacks or parry its attacks to fill up its posture damage. The best time to parry its attack is when it’s charging straight at you. You can still block its head swings but that the consecutive hits can easily build up the burn gauge and damage your posture.
When the bull’s posture gauge is about to be filled, use firecrackers to stun it for a few seconds to finish it off. The firecrackers have very limited range so the best time to use it is after blocking a bull’s attack. You can then finish it off even when its vitality isn’t fully depleted. The bull will go on a rampage when it’s critically injured so make sure to finish it off with a good amount of its HP left.
