When you use the tool while being attacked, there will be a split-second window where you’ll get swallowed by a cloud of black feathers, which will “teleport” you above the enemy. Upgraded versions of the tool will allow you to move to the direction you want to go using (L), giving you an attack opportunity.
This is a rather tricky tool to use since it will require you to have proper timing in order to trigger its effects, while also leaving yourself vulnerable to an enemy’s attack. Using this tool against bosses seems to require higher skill ceiling to be able to be used at its full. potential.
You can find this tool in Hirata Estate. From the Bamboo Thicket sculptor’s idol, continue up the path until you see a grappling point to the left.
Jump to the water then swim upstream, past the bridge. Grapple to the next grappling branch before reaching the waterfall.
Head towards the waterfall past the bamboo trees and you’ll find an opening blocked by bamboo sticks to the right.
Enter this tunnel and jump up. Once you reach the top, carefully head towards the pagoda. There’s one purple cloaked ninja guarding the place. You can’t sneak behind him since he will instantly aggro once you start climbing up the stairs. Fighting him is also a pain but thankfully, there’s a tactic that can make it easier to defeat him.
First, lure him near the edge of the cliff. Fight him a bit then “accidentally” drop towards the water below. Heal up and wait for the combat music to die down. Carefully return back up and stay near the hole. If done correctly, this enemy will turn around and walk back up where you can sneak up and kill him instantly with a deathblow.
This trick doesn’t work all the time; if you get back up too early, he will spot you immediately as soon as you climb back up. This will ruin the trick since he will stay near the hole and wait for you to climb up again. When that happens, it’s better to travel back to the previous idol and try again. (You can refer to the video walkthrough below to learn how to do this trick)
Defeating this enemy will award you with a Scrap Iron. Next, head towards the pagoda’s door and open it. Loot the Mist Raven Feathers inside.
You’ll access to the prosthetic tool upgrade menu after defeating Gyoubu Oniwa and getting the Mechanical Barrel he drops. Talk to the Sculptor and give him the barrel to unlock the menu.
Similar to skills, there are also upgraded versions of prosthetic tools that will require prerequisite upgrades before you can unlock them. Each upgrade will require upgrade materials; higher tier upgrades requiring uncommon or rarer materials. Take note that you can still use the older versions of the tools should you wish to.
