Chapter 06 - A Way Forward

Main Quest - All Set to Set Sail

A rather long drive to Cape Caem will commence once you speak to Iris, so make sure you've done everything you need to before moving on. Take the time to check your list of active sidequests and do them as you will not be able to travel freely for a while when Iris is in the car with you. Anyway, have fun watching some character interaction until about halfway through the trip, where the group spots an imperial fortress flying overhead. You then stop at Old Lestallum with a new objective to infiltrate Fort Vaullerey.Feel free to check for available hunts at the diner if you'd like.

Otherwise, head for the location of the imperial base and dispose of the security detail before climbing to the top of the watch tower. Here, Ignis suggests you capture the base commander which of course means you have a stealth mission in your hands. You must track Caligo and keep him within sight. The mission will fail if the dude gets too far out of sight or if Noctis is spotted, so stay in cover as you move forward and warp kill soldiers only if you're sure no one will notice. Also make use of towers when opportunity allows as a higher vantage point provides a better view of your surroundings, and lets you see where the guards are.

Once you make close enough to subdue Caligo, knock him out and have Ignis take him away while you go regroup with the other bros. Stealth is no longer needed at this point so feel free to knock heads as you rush towards the magitek generator where your friends are. Silence the remaining resistance and Ignis should rejoin the party. I find it funny how Caligo managed to split so soon after capture; hunters make for terrible guards apparently. Head for the goal and you'll be stopped by one Aranea Highwind who must be defeated before you can proceed.

This woman has a little over 46,000 HP and receives normal damage from pretty much everything. She is also moves fast so its best to favor speed over power for this fight. Swords work best as you can land multiple hits at a somewhat decent distance. Use Armiger when available and counter as soon as her Jump attack misses (assuming you didn't block it). The evade and counter tactic has proven to be the most effective tactic for me here so you might want to try that too. But most of all always look up when she uses Jump and prepare to block then parry so Noctis counters with a one-handed slam. This does over 4500 damage if successful and stuns Aranea for a bit. Enemy soldiers will show up from time to time as well; defeat them first before returning your attention to Highwind.

With the battle won, go rejoin Iris and resume the drive to Cape Caem. Cindy will be there to greet the party on arrival. You can follow her or go all the way up the hill and into the lighthouse, where you'll find an Oracle Ascension Coin on the ground. Anyway, speak with Cindy and she says they're currently missing a component called Mythril. Talcott should be able to tell you more about it so go ask him. Cid will be hanging at the lighthouse from here on, so visit him here instead of the garage in Hammerhead when you have weapons to upgrade.

Head back down to the cottage and you'll score Magic Flask inside. You can also use one of the rooms upstairs to rest for free if you like. There won't be any EXP bonuses though. Speak with Iris once you're ready to continue. Gladio will temporarily leave the group for the duration of the next chapter by the way. He won't miss out on the EXP points though so don't sweat it.
