Chapter 02 Sidequests

Most of these quest are not time-sensitive so you can go back to it at any time once it's been triggered. They are not chapter specific either and can usually be started at any time provided that the prerequisite sidequest has been completed.

This list simply gives the earliest possible time frame a particular quest is made accessible to you. The game however does become quite linear in later chapters, so it's best to finish as much of these quests as you can when you still have the opportunity to explore freely.

Hammerhead Outpost

Scenic Delivery - 300 EXP, 2x Gighee Ham, 2x Leiden Potato, 2x Sheep Milk, 2x Funguar

Once chapter 2 starts, check the newspaper on the Diner's counter and the Tipster will ask you to get him some Lucian Tomatoes. There should be plenty of these to harvest from food spots on the fields around town, so go grab some and bring them back.

Hunters and Gatherers - 500 EXP, 5x Cleigne Wheat, 5x Dualhorn Steak, 5x Leiden Pepper

After completing Scenic Delivery, check the newspaper on the counter again and Takka will ask you to bring him some Daggerquill Breasts. Set the quest as your destination and head to the spot indicated which isn't that far from the outpost. The target birds are best dealt with using warp strike, and should drop the ingredient you need upon defeat. Take them back to the Diner as usual to complete the quest.

Cid Sophiar, Master Mechanic - 500 EXP, Drain Lance II

Speak with Cid after the story scene in the Hammerhead garage and he'll notice the Drain Lance Noctis snagged from the Imperials earlier. He then offers to upgrade it if you can hand him a piece of Metal Scrap. You should quite a few of these already if you've been picking up shinies from the ground. Give Cid one and he'll make the Drain Lance II for you.

A Better Engine Blade - 500 EXP, Engine Blade II

Speak to Cid again after he upgrades the Drain Lance and he'll mod the Engine Blade if you can hand over a Rusted Bit. You can find one on the docks next to the lighthouse at Galdin Quay.

The Ever Regal Regalia - 150 EXP

This one becomes available after you've completed the Tomb of the Wise during the main quest. Check the sidequest marker and Noctis offers to retrieve a supposedly rare can of car wax for Cindy. The destination is a little less than a mile out and you have a choice to take the car or go there on foot. Either way, grab the Aero Wax once you find it in the tunnel and take it back to Cindy.

The Ever Elegant Regalia - 500 EXP, Regalia Decals

Speak to Cindy again after completing "The Ever Regal Regalia" and she'll ask you bring her some Redstone Shard. Go to the given location and head for the specified spot to retrieve the goods. For me however, this quest somehow completed itself without me ever giving the ore to Cindy.

Prairie Outpost

Tired of Running - 300 EXP, 500 Gil

To unlock this quest, take a long hike northwest from Hammerhead toward the Prairie Outpost. On the way there, you will enter a long tunnel and at the exit, you will hear a man call for help. Continue through the fence to reach a section filled with shipping containers, and hiding between these containers is a hunter. Heal him with a Potion and you're done.

Dust to Dust - 500 EXP, 5x Mega Potion

Your mission here is to find another dog tag for Dave. Mark the quest location your map and once you reach the spot, look next to the old abandoned car to find the tag. The above image shows the exact location of the item.

Palpable Pain - 350 EXP, 900 Gil

After you've completed the quest Tired of Running, head to the location shown on the image above and you'll find the distressed hunter in some ruins. Use a Potion on her.

Galdin Quay

The Aspiring Artisan - 500 EXP, Amethyst Bracelet

Sometime after the start of chapter 2, you will receive a call from Dino about a job. This should happen at some point if you're running around doing other quests. Go speak with him near the restaurant and he asks you to find him an Amethyst Stone. Head to the designated area and check the rocks until you see one where you can harvest the item from.

Broken Down - 300 EXP, 500 Gil

On the side of the road some ways south of Longwyth Rest Area, you'll see a man currently stranded because of a broken car. Buy a Repair Kit for 100 gil at shops in any outposts and bring it to the man to complete the quest.
