Main Quest - Burden of Expectation

Upon arriving in this new city, gather information by speaking to the Tipsters of the many diners so you can populate your map icons. Then feel free to explore for a bit just to see the sights as well as collect shinies on the ground. One of these sparkly things is an Oracle Ascension Coin as shown by the image below.

Check for any available sidequests and hunts you can complete until you feel comfortable to proceed with the story. Once you do, head for the plaza first then to the hotel. You'll be rewarded with a Magic Flask as soon as Iris sees the group for the first time.

Iris then offers to take you on a guided tour around the city the next morning. Be nice and say yes. Now you get to follow Iris (or just run ahead if she's taking too long) around the city, and depending on your responses to her queries you either get bonus EXP, AP or both. While there is technically no wrong answer, I usually just pick the nicest things which mostly means extra EXP. The little tour ends once you're told to return to the hotel.

Main Quest - The Sword in the Waterfall

Talcott gives the group their next lead here, pointing out the location of the next ancient weapon. Be sure to stop by the Taelpar Rest Area on your way to the grotto, so you can collect the freebies there. One of which is an Oracle Ascension Coin along with a Rusted Bit. Once you get to the waterfall, make your way around the rocky ledges towards the entrance of the dungeon and don't forget to save outside.

Moving forward into the grotto, pick up the Fossil Shell from the first shiny on the ground then slide down the slope further up the path. Kill off the gaggle of Imps that are likely to appear at the end and keep moving to slide on the next downward slope. Land on the narrow ledge to grab an Ether before heading through the hole. Snag a Fossil Wood up ahead and all the way to the end of the path is another gap you can go through. Here, go around the narrow ledge being careful not fall so you can grab the Carbon Bangle, then prepare for a big slide when you drop down. Defeat the Arachne waiting at the bottom and continue heading to the destination marker. Shimmy across the ledge here to go further into the cave.

It is here where things can get a bit confusing and if you're seemingly going in circles at any point, always try to look for a narrow pathway to shimmy on. As that is the way forward. There is another Oracle Ascension Coin somewhere around here too, and you can reach it by dropping off to the right on the ice at the section shown above.

Waiting at the end of the dungeon before you enter the tomb, is a monster ambush of Mindflayers, Flans and Imps which must be dealt with first before you can proceed. Be wary of the Mindflayer as it can inflict Confuse if it grabs Noctis. Collect the Swords of the Wanderer inside the tomb to complete the quest then return to the entrance of the grotto for a scene which starts the next story mission.

Main Quest - The Way of Gods and Kings

Return to the hotel in Lestallum then head for the outlook after the scene. On the way there, walk past the woman sitting on the table so Ignis learns the recipe for the Mother and Child Rice Bowl. Moving on, you'll run into Ardyn again who offers to take you to visit the Archean.

Follow him to his car where a choice must be made. Once again, there is no wrong answer as your choice only determines the what kind of bonus you get -- be it EXP or AP or both. Of course you can always turn to Ignis, in which case he will receive 1000 EXP.
