how do you get ranked

I am new to the x box live world. How do I get ranked? I can't seem to figure it out please explain step by step

If you are on a Xbox you simply can't.on Xbox 360 setup a match and try to win once you get a certain number of wins or loses you'll up rank or down rank

It doesn't matter if you are on an original xbox or not. All you do is play some ranked games. After a certain amount of wins you will go up a rank. If you lose a certain amount you will go down a rank.
