How do you kill Tartarus on the Legendary difficulty, on 'The Great Journey'?

First You pick up the shotgun and wait for the marine to take his shields down, then run up to him.

Shoot him in the head or stick a grenade to him .

Watch out for his back up when he gets close to dying.

Well, you should always keep a beam rifle because that's the only weapon that can take down Tartarus's shield. I know the marine takes down his shield but things will go a lot quicker if you can too.

This works for me every time.

Keep shooting him in his head and he'll die

I honestly don't know. I imagine that it's way harder than the normal difficulty, so you'll have to wait until the Sergeant takes out his shields, then you just shoot him until he dies.
