How many skulls are out there?

And what do you really get after?

There is a skull in each level. And what do you mean by after? If you mean when you finish the game, nothing.

I'm not sure how many there are but I have found about four of them. If what you mean by "what you really get after" like the power you get here's the list:
Envy skull- gives the master chief the invisibility power instead of flashlight(like the Arbiter)
Grunt B-Day Skull- enemies explode like grenades when shot in the head with projectile weapons (snipers, battle rifle, carbine, etc; only works when the enemy's shield is down or when there's no shield at all) ALLIES HAVE THIS POWER TOO AND IT'S AWSOME!
Blind Skull- no stats whatsoever are shown on the screen (you can't even see your own gun or your aimer!) just the area you're looking at, nothing more...
Sputnick Skull- all movible objects lose mass a lot meaning if you melee a small box it goes flying! Also when you melee enemies they do a full 180 degree turn so they're easy to assassinate (for all of you silver elite haters)

And I'm sorry but I really too lazy to tell you where these skulls are but you can Google it and type in Halo 2 Skulls
