Each character has their own set of skills that can turn the tide of battle. Each character has three active skills that can be activated immediately at the start of battle. Each active skill can be upgraded up to LV6, which will improve the skill’s effects but that will require the use of 6* duplicates of the character via the Enhance Skill mechanic.
Skill #1 is a basic attack that has no cooldown. Skill #2 and Skill #3 are more powerful than Skill #1 but they need a few turns to pass before they can be used again. Skill #3 is considered the “super” skill as it normally has the longest cooldown of the three and has the best damage/coverage/healing effect. It also has a short cinematic when triggered. (Cool!)
Skill cooldowns vary from character to character though there are applied and passive effects that may directly affect cooldowns such as Rebecca’s Chain passive skill that reduces all her skills’ cooldown by 2 turns upon defeating an enemy or the character Chrono’s skill set.
Each hero grade 4* or higher has one leader skill that becomes activated once a character has been set as your party’s leader. This skill is also what other players can use if ever they select your selected party’s leader as a helper. Setting a party leader that syncs well with the party’s elemental composition can provide a great boost in battle.
Each grade 4* or higher hero has two passive skills available. First passive skill is immediately available while the second requires the hero to reach LV60 (after 5 limit breaks). Like other Hero Talents, you’ll still need to unlock using Gold and essences.
This is when skills from different characters in your team “blend” or complement each other’s skill effect. This is practically useful in dungeons that require specific elements in order to clear them easily, like the Timespace Void dungeons. The game has a large pool of skills and characters so you can play with various combinations, especially if you’re taking PVP seriously. Because of this variety, I won’t be able to list all skills and characters that will synergize with each other, especially when the characters you can own will pretty much depend on your luck. Here are some examples (these are the NOT meant to be the best combinations but are only set as examples for educational purposes)
Vlady (R) has a passive that restores HP when attacking a Bleeding target and his Skill #3 can deal additional damage to a bleeding target. Charlotte (SR) is another character that can deal additional damage to a bleeding target. While both of the mentioned characters have the chance to inflict bleeding with their Skill #1 attacks, they can both benefit if either one of them inflicts damage on the same bleeding target.
In this second example, we’ll look into Jin (SR), a water hero with a passive that has a chance to decrease his cooldowns when attacking a Frozen target. His Skill #3 can freeze up to 2 enemies. Now look at another SR water hero, Laurel. She has a passive that can deal additional damage to frozen enemies and with her Skill #2 that has a chance to freeze a target and two adjacent enemies.
Finally, the last example is SSR fire tank, Electra. Her passive and skill #2 has a chance to burn attackers. With Jess, (SR) fire hero in the same team, his passive gives him the chance to increase the target’s debuff duration by a turn when attacking a burned target, gives his skill #2 a damage boost, and chance to burn all other enemies when attacking a burned target.
