As like its predecessor, Injustice 2 has many different stages (areas) that you can battle in. All stages will be fought in during story mode, and you can actually choose what stage you'd like to play in when battling for fun outside of it. Each stage has given items that a player can interact with and actually use against their opponent, ranging from throwing weapons found on the ground or actually throwing their opponent into walls or the something in the background of the stage.
There are exactly twelve stages in Injustice 2, including the Arkham Asylum, Atlantis, Gorilla City, Fortress of Solitude, Gotham, Kahndag, Red Sun Prison, Metropolis, The Joker's Playground, Slaughter Swamp, Brainiac Ships, and the Batcave. Each stage also has a secondary area that a player can reach by doing a Stage Transition, an attack on either far side of the main stage that will send both characters in a fighting motion to the next.
