Chapter 3: The Brave & The Bold

Chapter 3

The chapter begins with the reveal of Supergirl being rescued from the deep depths of space by none other than Black Adam. She is then brought to Wonder Woman out in the middle of the desert, where they ultimately plan to free Superman from prison one day. Both Wonder Woman and Black Adam warn her to stay away from Batman, to leave the fighting with him up to them to avoid being captured as well. The three of them all decide to bide their time for now.

It is then shown that The Society - made up of Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold, Poison, Ivy, Deadshot, Scarecrow, Bane and Cheetah - are all currently in Gorilla City. Batman planned for Black Canary and Green Arrow to go there and extract Gorilla Grodd in order to arrest him as well, but the two weren't expecting the entire Society to be there. The two of them seem outmatched at first, but Black Canary's scream manages to scramble the villains temporarily.

The first on their feet after this is Catwoman, and it is here you're able to choose to fight with either Black Canary or Green Arrow. (It is best to select who you feel you're most comfortable with, but Green Arrow's zoning abilities work perfectly against Catwoman.) After defeating Catwoman, Bane will be the next to battle you. Again, either character will be allowed to be chosen to fight, but the other will get behind Bane and cut the tubes to his armor. This plan actually works to temporarily halt Bane long enough to defeat him, but Dr. Fate will suddenly appear after you do so.

Dr. Fate, before fighting, will warn you of a greater threat that will soon come to kill everyone and everything, claiming that he will take them all by force if he needs to. For the third time, you will be allowed to select which fighter you will like to play with. After defeating Dr. Fate and making him finally realize that the two of them won't abandon Batman and their cause, Gorilla Grodd enters with an unconscious Harley Quinn. He is ready to fight you at will, and once more, for the final time that is, you will select among the two heroes.

The victory over Grodd is short-lived, as even after the ape is chained he begins to laugh at the heroes. Immediately, a beam of light shines on them from above and they are taken aboard a ship. Brainiac quickly shows his face, and he soon declares that he demands Superman and all of Earth's knowledge before he destroys the planet. His invasion begins right then, and Brother Eye, Batman's supercomputer, is abducted by Brainiac.

After becoming aware of the invasion, Wonder Woman, Black Adam and Supergirl instantly realize they need to free Superman from jail as fast as they possibly can. But even before they can, Batman himself goes to the Red Sun Prison, where the Man of Steel is being held, to get answers straight from the greatest source there is. However, Superman doesn't reveal anything at all to Bruce Wayne. Instead, all Superman shares is that he knows Batman is afraid of Brainiac, as well knowing that Batman needs him in order to defeat the Super Villain. The chapter ends by Batman turning down Superman's sudden offer to be freed, leaving the prison as he does.
