Along with the most basic of Controls found in Injustice 2, there are also a number of other, more advanced mechanics found in the gameplay. Four of the more simple to explain are how to Block, Dash, Throw and Interact. To block an oncoming attack, all a player must do is pull Back on the joystick. To complete a dash in order to gain or lose distance from an opponent, a player must input Forwards or Backwards two times in a row on the joystick consecutively.

To throw your opponent, you can either press the Throw Button, Light Attack Button or Heavy Attack Button for your given controller. And finally, to interact with an object or part of the environment (available in all Stages) simply click the given Interact Button for your given controller; however, how the character reacts to this will vary based on what Type of Character they are.

From there, there are four even more complex mechanics found within Injustice 2, including Clashes, Super Move Minigames, Rolling and Air Escapes. Clashes can be initiated during an opponents unblockable punishing combo, and it is here where players will be given the option to burn some of their Super Meter to win the clash. Whoever burns the most of their meter will win the clash: if the character who initiated the clash wins, they will regain health; if the original attacker wins the clash, then they will deal even more damage than what they originally would.

During a Super Move, either the Attacker or Defender can activate a Super Move Minigame if they so choose to further increase or actually decrease the damage of each hit by clicking the Heavy Attack Button. This amount is very minimal, but it could be what decides a close match. A player can also perform a roll to get out of a corner by performing a dash while also burning some of the Super Meter. A player can even escape an opponents hold by doing an air escape, done so by holding Back and burning even more of their Super Meter.
