Chapter 4

News of Brainiac's invasion soon reaches the Flash, who was once a member of Superman's Regime but was eventually pardoned. As part of the conditions of his pardoning, Flash must remain far away from civilization and, for the most part, was exiled to the cold north. However, knowing that he will be needed to fight against the Invasion, the Flash runs back to Metropolis to help the civilians. Unfortunately, his return is anticipated by Brainiac and Gorilla Grodd, who seem to be working together in this, as the Society is waiting for the Flash when he gets there.

Deadshot immediately shoots out one of the Flash's legs after he does, and Captain Cold meets him up close to try to keep him down. Flash refuses to lose so easily, however, and he ends up fighting Captain Cold. After defeating Cold with Flash, the scene transitions to Harley Quinn side of the story, who is actually still bound and in the custody of Catwoman. Catwoman, however, ends up turning out to be a mole working for Batman the entire time, freeing Quin before the two of them head back to Gotham.

Back in Metropolis, Deadshot comes into close quarters with Flash to finish him off, something Captain Cold couldn't do on his own. He tries telling Flash that he has no other choice but to abide and face him, as there is a nano-machine bomb in his head that will self-destruct if he doesn't obey Grodd. With no other choice, Flash must defeat Deadshot. But after he does, a yellow version of Flash, Reverse Flash, reveals himself. He is said to have come from the future, having traveled back in time, but because the the timeline is currently in shambles, he is unable to return to his time.

Reverse Flash, after finding out about Flash's return to Metropolis, immediately went there to defeat him, thinking it had something to do with his return that has altered his personal timeline. The two end up running across the world fighting each other, until they reach Gotham for their real showdown. After having to fight Reverse Flash and winning in his efforts, Reverse Flash runs off elsewhere for the time being. But things don't end there for Flash, not just yet.

Also hearing of Flash's return from exile is Green Lantern, who was given a second chance from the Guardians as a Green Lantern after all of the sins he committed when apart of the Sinestro Corporation during the original Injustice Storyline. Green Lantern still hasn't forgotten nor forgiven Flash for turning on the regime, and he returns to challenge Flash to a battle. After defeating Green Lantern, the two heroes finally come to the realization that they both have repenting to do for their previous actions, and that working together would be a great start to redeeming themselves as they help save the planet from this new threat.

Batman, however, isn't too fond of this revival to their partnership, or either character in general for that matter. But since he knows he'll need all the help in stopping both Brainiac and Grodd, he decides that he will indeed need their help. As for his first assignment in assisting Batman, Green Lantern is sent to Atlantis to find and convince Aquaman to return to help as well.
