Chapter 9: Last Hope of Krypton

Chapter 9

After defeating Cheetah, Wonder Woman is ready to kill her right then and there before Harley Quinn shows up to remind her that they shouldn't be killing anyone. Not taking kindly to the advice, Wonder Woman attempts to kill Quinn; however, before Wonder Woman is successful in her efforts, Supergirl shoves her away and closes the wound in Harley Quinn's stomach. Wonder Woman then questions Supergirl's actions, but Supergirl believes in honor over executing criminals and innocent lives. Supergirl must then battle Wonder Woman in order to rescue Quinn.

Once Harley Quinn is safe, Supergirl heads to the Fortress of Solitude, Superman's base of operations and beloved home on the planet. But it is here where Supergirl finally realizes who Superman truly is: a tyrannical dictator who will kill anyone to ensure the safety of others. Supergirl can't accept this at first and tries to get away, but Superman attempts to keep her there. Robin is the first to show up in order to do this, and Supergirl must fight him. Shortly after, Supergirl must also battle Black Adam. After defeating Adam, Supergirl will find herself facing off with the Man of Steel himself, the same man who refuses to accept that what he has been doing is wrong. A victory against him will lead to a very long cut scene.

In the meantime, Brainiac begins extracting cities, which, in turn, forces everyone to try to stop him from destroying Metropolis. Dr. Fate stands in the dying city and wonders on why it must be this way, looking into his helm in question as to why he can't change their fate, only for his helm to reply that humans are chaos and Brainiac is the new world order. Batman and Catwoman try taking down the Skull Ship, Brainiac's main fleet, but its shields make it impossible for them to get through. Supergirl still tries anyway. Superman quickly comes to try to help her accomplish this, but both get blasted away and become temporarily incapacitated because of it.

Superman quickly gets up again and tries to break through once more, but Brainiac is already prepared to takeover all of Metropolis. As the super villain does, Superman attempts one last time to save the city, but he fails once more. Metropolis is gone, and now Brainiac sets his aim directly at the Man of Steel. After Brainiac does so, Superman is missing and is believed to be dead from the blast. The heroes instantly begin to mourn the loss, while some even get angry with each other. Brainiac then makes a decree to the remaining powers that stand against him: deliver Supergirl to him within one hour, or else the entire Earth will be destroyed. Batman refuses to accept this and give Supergirl to the now murderous mega-villain, and his team then devises and puts another plan into motion.
