Chapter 12

The final chapter of Injustice 2 is unique compared to all the rest, in a variety of ways too. It begins with a long cinematic with no fights, but one that will shape the ending. Brainiac is lying on the ground after being defeated by Batman, as Superman finally release his mind from controlling the ship. The Man of Steel was able to savage most of the cities destroyed, but not Coast City or Metropolis. And because of this, Superman is ready to execute him for what he has done as the other heroes board the ship. Batman preaches that they need to save Brainiac so they can try to save the rest of the cities, but Superman declares Metropolis lost forever and wants to punish Brainiac because of so with the penalty of death.

Things become contentious between the two, as a few of the others voice their opinions and join their given sides, ending with Batman striking Superman with a gold Kryptonite Knife that he received from Firestorm. Superman arises after this, stating it's time to finish this. And it is here that the player is required to choose which side they are on: Batman's side of saving Brainiac or Superman's side of killing he. Whether you support executing villains and criminals without a trial or if you support giving everyone the right to life, the theme of Injustice forces you to make a choice. From here, two separate alternate endings happen dependent upon which side you choose.

If you choose the Superman, Batman will again attack him with the golden Krytonite Knife as the rest of the heroes spring into action to fight for the side they believe in. However, Superman is able to hit him hard enough for him to drop the knife that Wonder Woman quickly grabs. Superman then goes for another blow to Batman, but Supergirl quickly stops him before Green Lantern tackles the Man of Steel. The two end up breaking out of the Ship, with Superman slamming Lantern into the ground below. Superman then tries to bring out Jordan's rage to get him on his side, but Hal refuses and the two go into battle.

After defeating Green Lantern, Superman goes on to break Jordan's hand, the same that holds his Green Lantern Ring, before Supergirl and Flash try to come to his rescue. Supergirl tries to reason with Clark, but he ends up grabbing and throwing her through a nearby building. Flash tries to step in, but Superman does the same to him and follows up by battling him. After defeating Flash, Supergirl appears to see the end of the fight. Saddened by what Superman has become, she tries to fly away. However, Superman quickly catches her, sending the two to fight one another. Once Supergirl is defeated, the only person standing in Superman's way now is his old friend, Batman.

The two have a small moment of reminiscing about the good old days, the same when life was so much simpler, when they were still friends and were excited for the birth of Superman's child that ultimately never was. The fond memories quickly come to an end as Superman swings and lands a punch on Batman, which makes it clear those times are forever gone. It is time to finish the fight and take down Batman once and for all.

Winning this final battle sees Batman ultimately become unconscious, with Superman proceeding with his plan of killing Brainiac. After the fight, the game cuts to the next scene with Superman visiting Supergirl in the prison he has her in. He has bonded his body with what was left of Brainiac's after having killed him, which Supergirl quickly takes notice of. Superman than gives her the option to join him in his efforts, but she instinctively refuses. He then tells her if she don't join freely, he'll have no other choice but to make her abide. And then in walks Batman, who is now under Superman's mind-control powers after refusing as well to joining his regime. Supergirl covers her face in fear, and the credits instantly begin to roll.
