The first of the two official game play modes in Farm Simulator 15 is Career Mode - which if you have not realized this is the single-player story mode - with challenges. In addition to this mode there is also a Multiplayer Mode - which we cover in the next section.
When you select Career Mode you are presented with the Save Slots Screen - of which there are 10 in total - which may sound like a lot but when you pause to consider the many different farming styles that is not as big a selection as you think...
Still pick one, hit the action button - and start playing the game!
The next choice you need to make is the Difficulty - in this case you have three choices, and each has a different effect on the game:
EASY -- Provides you with more starting capital and a comparatively small bank loan. Completed Missions return more money, and hiring assistants is less costly.
NORMAL -- This is the mode that most players will play at. It has a reasonable starting balance and reasonable loan size. Costs are also pretty reasonable, as are rewards.
HARD -- This mode really is hard - especially if you are a first time player in which case you should not do it. Pick Normal or Easy. But if you ARE a returning player with mad skills - or you have played the game and developed some skills - this mode may be for you!
On Hard the game delivers less in terms of rewards, you start with less money and bigger debt, and labor costs are high. That said though, it all becomes part of the challenge. Think of it as being a farmer during the 1990s. Just saying...
The base game now gives you a choice between two starting cities:
Bjornholm - The Scandinavian area represents an important agricultural center in the middle of the Nordic forests. Show Bjornholm's residents how a modern farm is run!
This map also contains a rout that introduces you tot he game's fundamentals.
Westbridge Hills -- Try your luck in the New World! This area in the USA is in need of a skilled farmer who can tend to its sprawling fields.
Before you pick here are a few things you should know - the first being that the Coin Collection is in the Bjornholm Map. You should also understand that which one you choose is not really going to changer much in terms of the game other than location.
