Part 03 -- Walkthrough Guide

The Missions Scheme in the game is similar to that of the previous games, and consists of either mowing jobs or fetch tasks, each being offered on a timer basis that the player can specify.

Mission Timing can be set to the following:

  • Every 2 Minutes

  • Every 5 Minutes

  • Never

In order to DO the missions however you will need to have the right equipment - which means a frontloader capable tractor (or a proper frontloader) and the frontloader attachment.

Once you have that kit you can begin to do the missions - which is a way to make some extra money and of course to unlock the Achievement that is associated with the act - Mission Master (60g) You have completed 50 missions.

The job board is where you flag the jobs - you control the frequency that they are offered by a setting in the main configuration screen... But you have to physically check the board to flag them.

Mission Boards

Scattered throughout the map there are Mission Boards at which the player can visit to flag missions as well as see what missions are currently flagged.

There are multiple boards in the game:

  • Near the Freight Yard

  • Near the Grain Elevator

  • Near the Windmill

  • Near Field 17

  • Near the Transport Co.

  • Near the Lumberyard

The game offers multiple missions that are organized by Mission Type, with the following Mission Types currently available in the game:

  • Demand Missions

  • Mowing Missions

  • Transport Missions

Fetch Missions

This type of mission generally requires you to deliver a specific crop to a specific location in the specified time.

It is largely this sort of mission that causes most players to store at least some of each crop type in their Silos at all times.

This is probably the most profitable and worthwhile of the missions - as long as you have what you need to complete them quickly. The reason for that is simple - while the mission bounty is not really much to speak of, the bonus rewards can run into the hundreds-of-thousands and THAT is!

But to be in a position to take advantage of this type of mission you will need to have a decent tractor and large tipper, and a LOT of crops stored in your Silos.

What we suggest is that you begin to build a crop reserve in the silo storage as soon as you can reasonably do so - alternating with selling one tipper full of crop and storing the next, then rinse and repeat until you have a good amount - say 75K L or more - in storage.

Once you have all that, there really will not be many missions you cannot just DO. And the rewards? Ah the rewards are nice.

Mowing jobs are the most common offered next to fetch jobs and one of the most convenient to do quickly...

Mowing Missions

Mowing Missions require you to mow a specified tract of grass in the specified time limit. The most effective method for doing that is to use a tractor that has as its equipment on its front a Kuhn Model FC 3525 F (Sticker Price is $13,500) and on its back a Kuhn Model FC 10030 (Sticker Price ($53K) which together will mow a swath that is 9.9 m wide smoothly.

While this sort of mission is not going to deliver massive piles of cash what it WILL do is deliver a steady stream of moderate reward money - and there is much to be said for that!

Transport Missions

This mission type requires you to go to a specific location designated by the mission marker in the proper equipment (usually a front-loaded with a pallet fork) where you pick up a pallet of some type of resource and then deliver it to another location indicated by the mission marker,

This type of mission will likely be your least favorite and the least profitable - that was certainly the case for us. The reason for that is simple: the process involves using the front-loader and pallet fork to pick up a pallet and then deliver it - often to a location on the other side of the map.

That is problematical for a number of reasons, not the least being that the transport process is delicate and it is very easy to end up dropping a pallet. While you do not have to worry about damaging the load, dropping one ends up eating away time as you pick it back up.

Needless to say you will not likely see much in the way of bonus for these missions, even after you get good with the front-loader!

The timers on the board can be confusing - the displayed timer does not indicate how long you have to complete the job but rather bow long you have to claim it before it is removed. Once claimed you get the standard job timer upon starting...

Time and Bonus

Each mission must be completed inside the specified timer. Finishing them early will result in the payment of a bonus.

Obviously collecting both the mission bounty and as much of the bonus as possible is in your best interest.

Hints & Tips #1: It Pays to Park!

Park your Piqup Truck near a Mission/Job Board so that you can quickly access the board via the D-Pad (Left and Right) Vehicle Switch. That way you can pop-in to the Board every 5 minutes or so to check if there is a job that you want to take.

This Tip brought to you by Acme Anvil Supply - when you need an Anvil to deal with a pesky Roadrunner, Acme is your nest mate!

The Master Missions List

Bear in mind that the timer you see on the board is the timer that indicates how long that specific mission will remain on the board to be flagged, and NOT when it must be completed. After you flag the mission you still get the regular timer for that mission to complete it (usually 10m) so you do not have to rush - but you probably should rush since you know, you get bonus money the faster you do it...

Keeping Up with Your Missions

The Mission System in FS15 is a very nice way to earn some extra money - and in fact can be invaluable when you are in the trying stage of building up and improving your farm! That said, you may want to keep track of your Mission Accomplishments for a number of reasons, not the least being that there are some Achievements / Trophies that are associated with the Mission System.

On the Statistics Page of your PDA in game you can track a number of interesting, um, numbers... Including the following:

  • Completed Transport Missions

  • Completed Mowing Missions

  • Completed Demand (Fetch) Missions

On the Overview Page of your PDA in-game you can see the amount of income that you have generated via the Missions System for this play session.
